Hi,

Just got back from Disney. Place was packed. Great time.

Our daughter and I were talking about Epcot and she wondered how Disney came up with the order of the countries in World Showcase. Obviously, USA is the centerpiece, but how did the others come to be where they are???

I knowpart of the answer to this. It was originally planned the American Pavillion was supposed to be upfront in the center as you started your journey around the Showcase. The imagineers thought this was a little to pretentious and so they moved the American Adventure to the very back. That way it didn't look so egotistical. Mexico and Canada were already planned next to AA - and those pavilions were kept in the original planned spots. Hope that makes sense!

I can tell you the order of the countries but I can't tell you why which are where. Sorry, it might have been space, architechteral size & shaping placement, or completely random.

There's a great Imagineering book about Epcot. It is very informative and interesting and only about $10. It's small enough that I keep it in my purse and read it whenever I get a chance. It really delves into the background of Epcot. I'd recommend it.

BTW, there's a MK and an AK version, as well.

I have that book, I'll go look and see if it says anything about the country order.
