Disney's Haunted Mansion Closed

Just this in...
If your kids just have to see the haunted mansion when they visit Walt Disney World, you might want to consider delaying your trip til the fall. The Haunted Mansion at Disney's Magic Kingdom is closed for the summer, but should be scarier than ever when it reopens.

Visitors to the park Thursday found out that the attraction had been closed at the end of the day Wednesday and is not scheduled to reopen until mid-September.

During that time, ride designers plan to add some new ghosts and work to enhance the effects of the attraction with technology updates.

This is the first major overhaul of the ride. Designers said they hope to update the ride without losing its traditional features or altering its story.

The Haunted Mansion's update follows the revisions to other Magic Kingdom rides, including the Pirates of the Caribbean ride and the It's a Small World ride.

My children and I were very bummed when we first found out a few months ago that the HM was going to be closed during our visit. The up-side??....we now need to plan another trip to check it out!!

I'm bummed that it will be closed for our upcoming trip too...but your right...just means we have to schedule another trip to see the "New & Improved" HM!

I'm also bummed about missing HM in July but we have another trip planned for DEcember so I guess I won't have to wait too long. We enjoy HM because we never have to wait in line, even in July is always been a walk on for us.

Acccording to the note on the construction wall, "Master Gracie is touring the world searching for new haunts to come live at the Haunted Mansion." I hope they are going to add Nightmare Before Christmas features to the mix. That would be so cool. We talked to some of the security guards who said they hadn't heard anything about what the changes were going to be, but they often try stuff out at DL to see how it will go over and then bring it to Florida. We'll keep our fingers crossed!! Next......the Halloween ToT editions that they've done at California Adventure?

Didn't know this until we tried to go on it this past weekend!! SO BUMMED!!! What a horrible sight--the "refurb" boards up all over HM.

They redid the Haunted Mansion in Disneyland..

Now, as you leave the main hall and go through the attic, you have multiple wedding photos where the groom is sans head..

And at the end is the bride, with hatchet.
