I'd like to put...

a twist on packerbeths thread on where is the best place to watch Wishes. I just bought a new camera and the little tripod that Wish told us about, which is cool by the way. I practiced on our little park systems 4th of July fireworks, and they turned out pretty good. Now, my question is, where do you take your pictures from, for instance, what do you put your tripod on to keep it steady. I've never taken night time pitures before (at least none that turned out) so I need all the help I can get. Any suggestions?

Suggestion#1: Read your manual thoroughly so you're familiar with all the necessary settings for nighttime photography.

Suggestion #2: Ask Soundgod. He's all about the fireworks and could probably give you some excellent advice.

I don't know much about fireworks pictures, but I think the train station would probably be a good place...

Re: I'd like to put...

Thanks for the compliments. I've been very busy this week and haven't been on much.
Where to photograph Wishes?
Several spots on Main Street starting with the platform at the station (beware the flagpole and the roof posts do get into the better shots.), the flagpole circle, the middle of Main Street where the faux street breaks up the building on the right, between Casey's and the Ice Cream Parlour, and between the two popcorn stands. A favorite spot of mine is over by the little circle by Crystal Palace to the right of the stroller parking for CP, this gives you a nice portrait view of the castle. On the right side of Main St, there are two other good spots, again, off center. There is a pathway on the right just before the popcorn stands that rejoins the main walkway just before the bridge to Tomorrowland. Partway alone, it turns uphill and to the left. There is an indent along here on the left that provides a nice shot, just make sure the trees don't block you. Finally, inside the Tomorrowland Noodle Terrace, just look for a table where the view of the castle isn't blocked. Don't go into the Hub as you'll have the bursts blocked by the castle. Pay close attention to the trees, there are plenty, and they do obstruct many potentially good shots.

Re: I'd like to put...

Thanks Soundgod for all the good suggestions. I think I like the spot by the Crystal Palace. I'm pretty sure I know where it is. Is there a place to set a small tripod down. There's no way I could take a good night time picture with out one. Thanks again.

Re: I'd like to put...

What I have done, is gotten there early. Usually there is a Photography CM taking pictures of guest there as well, because this is the beauty shot for the castle in the background. I set up as far to the left as possible, going right against the tall bush and put my tripod on the other side of the low fence on the dirt and keep myself and equipment out of the other photographer's way. At no time do your feet leave concrete, just your camera. Some nights, it's easier to get a spot here than others of course, depending on how the crowds are that day.
