I didn't want to bump up an older thread so i figured i'd just throw this out again. Now that we are in August, has anything been decided on RnRC going down for that refurb in September?

I heard on mouseplanet that it will be closed the entire month. It did say the dates were unconfirmed though. Hope not I will be there the end of the month.

From what I've heard and read, new fireworks elements HAVE to be added to make up for the HUGE HOLE the globe's absence would create. It has been announced off and on through the summer with various start dates. The last time I was in Epcot, June, I asked at Guest Services and a CM, after many calls, was able to tell me that at that time, it was scheduled to go out in late August or early September.
There are also rumors that Reflections of Earth will be ending in the near future. The new show is rumored to be called Illuminations:Skydance. Some posters on another forum supposedly overheard a conversation by two Imagineers discussing new effects in Epcot. It's as possible this discussion was about the new effects to replace the globe, or it's also possible that the globe going out is a cover for the new show, and it will start around the time of Epcot's 25th birthday this fall.

hmmm....we can only see illuminations on one day of our trip, so i really hope we get something! they'll have some kind of show, right? even if its being redone, will there be a night or more with nothing?

From September 2005 until February 2006, the Inferno Barge was out of commission, and they really didn't add anything to cover for the absence of the flames. It did work. The globe is different, but it is in serious need of refurb if it's going to continue. They will perform Illuminations, that's a long standing tradition. Besides, I've got a boat reserved for an Illuminations cruise on the 26th. They're not going to kill any extra revenue streams if they don't have to, and the disappointment of every guest at not seeing Illuminations is a lot to have to deal with as well.
What night are you planning to see Illuminations?

Rock'N'Roller Coaster will be down in the fall according to a manager at that particular attraction.

Guest Relations at Epcot has not been informed of any Globe rehabs for Illuminations. If it is coming it has not been announced, even to us. I've only heard rumors on the internet.

we will be there on thursday 09/27. we'll be in epcot on sunday the 23rd, but dinner is out of epcot, so no illuminations that night i guess. and we'll be there on the 29th, but only until mid afternnoon, then we go home.

thanks rosebud! did that manager say a time frame? i'm going with the assumption that's down while we are there, and if by some chance it is open, it'll just be gravy!!
