Stroller Rental

We are going to AK and MK on Sunday and have a question. If we rent a stroller at AK in the morning, will we have to rent a stroller again when we get to MK in the evening. I mean, do they have some sort of voucher to take to another park where you would not have to pay for a stroller twice in one day?

Re: Stroller Rental

As long as you show them your receipt you can just get another the same day without having to pay for it.

Re: Stroller Rental

Save the receipt. Also, I hear there is a length of stay price that's cheaper than the daily rental fee. We're looking into that for ourselves.

Yes, it saves you a few bucks. If you know you plan on using a stroller for your entire stay, its makes sense to do the length of stay rental. It also saves you the time of having to wait in line to pay for a stroller at each park. You can just go to stroller pick up, show them your receipt, and you're off!

Thanks! I wasn't sure how it worked. We were going to bring our umbrella stroller but our DS (almost 4 1/2) is getting too big for it. I think he'll be more comfy in a Disney stroller and then we don't have to lug it with us while getting to and from the parks.

Yes, we would rent the double stroller, as our boys got bigger, so there was room for all of our stuff as well.

This will be our first trip without a stroller!

LOL - we've been using strollers for 10+ years. I'm thinking this may be our last, although our DD used one until she was 6. Then her legs were just too long to squeeze in the stroller, she's thin but really tall. My DS is a little chunky, so that's his issue. I will definitley miss it when I don't have one to haul all my stuff around in.

Our DD (who just turned 7) used the umbrella stroller still this past April. She fit fine except her legs were a bit long. Not sure what we'll do in a few weeks. Seems weird to bring a stroller for a 7 year old! The WDW strollers seem a little hard to navigate compared to an umbrella stroller - are they? Also, does anyone know the per day cost (since we will only be there for 3 days).

Re: Stroller Rental

I just checked the WDW site, and it says the daily rate for single strollers is $10 and for double strollers (side by side) is $18.

Walt Disney World Resort - Detecting Browser Properties . . .

Hope this helps! We've only rented a stroller once, for my then 3-yr during MVMCP when we already had our 1-yr twins in our double-stroller. We never had any problems taking our own stroller in parks, on Disney buses, etc., but at the end of our last trip I was a little tired of lugging it around, especially since we were staying at Shades of Green, so often we had two transpo transfers (e.g., bus to bus, monorail to bus), so we'll haven't decided whether to take our own or not on the next trip.

Re: Stroller Rental

My children used the double stroller on a previous trip. They were 7, 9, & 10. They all fit in it and took turns. Our past trip we didn't use a stroller as they were 3 years older. I missed not having a place to put all our drinks and things when we went on rides!

Re: Stroller Rental

If you're going for a long period of time, it's usually a lot cheaper to just buy an umbrella stroller from WalMart in Florida (range from $5 to $10, more advanced from $10 to $20), use it for a week, and then give it to another deserving family (or just leave it in your hotel room). Only, if you won't be renting a car, or if you have older children, then rental is probably your better option. Only, those big plastic strollers, especially the doubles, are rather difficult to maneuver, particularly through gift shops. And, I always seem to get rammed in the back of the ankles in heavy traffic or cut off by some pushy parent shoving the gigantic thing in front of me.

Re: Stroller Rental

Davery-Have you considered buying a stroller before you leave? You can get a good, quality umbrella stroller for less than it would cost you to rent one a WDW. I would avoid the cheapy ones, and go for a MacLaren or a Chicco. We have a Chicco that we love. It cost $70. The wheels aren't the fall apart plastic kind that you find on the less expensive ones, the handles are higher, and therefore easier to push. It has a good sized basket, and a sun shield. It reclines and it came with a rain cover. We have had it for 2 years, and it is getting ready to make it's third trip to WDW. It still is in great shape, it rides smoothly and we have zero complaints with it. Just something to think about, it may save you money in the long run!!

Re: Stroller Rental

I seem to remember the Disney strollers pretty easy to manage. I may consider looking into a MacLaren though. I'm gonna look for one now. Thanks for the tip.

Re: Stroller Rental

We always rent a stroller . . . I call it my "whine" money . . . and it's well spent! I have a DD3 and a DD7! The 7 year old is a little big, but she climbs right in there when she gets hot and tired . . . I like the double, cuz i put down a beach towel on the bottom, and my DD3 curls right up and takes a nap when she is tired. (Beach towel also comes in handy for blocking the sun . . . or wiping down the stroller if there is a passing rain shower while we're on a ride)

Also as mentioned it's great for storing stuff while you go on the rides!!
