I can't remember a time I haven't hopped, other than perhaps my very first visit. Starting with the second time, I have hopped and hopped often, at least two parks every day. But once upon a time, the vacation packages all came with ultimate park hopper passes which gave admission to everything. We also have a few genuine Park Hopper Pluses that we're hoarding and are going to renew our APs for one more year, so many of these issues don't even affect us.

We usually hop. This trip, we spent a whole day in Epcot on Saturday...no hopping. And it worked out fine.

Being able to stay an extra day would be awesome!! But I always park-hop when im there its nice to break up the day and hit the pool in the afternoon and then a new park at night! But thats just me everyone is different! Im sure you will have a great time whatever you decide!

We hopped last year and it was pretty cool but I'm not sure I viewed it as a absolute must have. However, we did like the freedom that it gave us to change parks whenever we wanted. To have an extra day might be worth the sacrifice. On a side note if I had the dining plan I would definitely choose the hopper option.

I will only say this. If you want to see Wishes and Illuminations or Fantasmic on the same night, you're going to have to hop. If you want to really take advantage of EMH, you're going to have to hop. If your heart is set on dining with Pooh and friends at Crystal Palace in the morning and going to eat dinner at Coral Reef, you're going to have to hop.

i've hopped to a park just to go on one ride and then hopped back to the hotel and hopped in the pool

You know, I really, really, really had to think for a moment before giving a response. ...And the only thing I can say is, "only you can answer that question." Each and everyone of us on this board has our own idea of how to plan and execute a trip to WDW. It was mentioned that parking hopping is a great way to avoid crowds; which is almost the truth. There are certain times of the day you probably would want to avoid one park and be at another. For example. In the summer months, I cannot do MGM during the early-late afternoon. That park is so small and compact it gets hotter than the other parks. So, I'd go in the morning or evening.

My only concern for you is 7 days with no park hopping. I couldn't do it. Heck, last year we drove up on a Sunday and hit all four parks in one day. I'd say on any given day we hit at least two parks. Others can't do that. If you are the type to get rooted at one park and plan on spending all day there, then don't park hop. Save the money! But, I don't think there is anyway I could be without the park hopping ability. Going back to what I said earlier, "only you can answer that question."

Now, "Can I add the hopper when I get there?" Disney wants your money any way they can get it. If you buy a 7 day pass, on the 7th day you can turn it into an AP if you'd like. As far as adding the park hopping option, I'd say the chances are very much in your favor of being able to add it. I'm almost positive you can, but you'd probably be better off calling them for a definitive answer.

Well, while I was typing my novel it looks like DayDreamer has the answer. Like I said, I'm almost positive you can. So, that's two of us virtually saying yes.

Broken down and called WDW just a few minutes ago.

I was told that I could add the hopper option at anytime that I am there... if we use 4 days and want hoppers for the additional night, we just have to pay the difference of approx... $40.00 per person... something to think about.

So I told DH that we can add the hopper when we get there, he asked how much, when I told him, he wasn't too happy...
He is kinda right, we didn't hop at all last September, so I doubt that we would do it again. We usually plan meals around the park that we are in. His biggest question is coming and going into the same park, leaving for a "NAP" only him... (well I kinda like that idea, a little rest in the middle of the afternoon sounds good to me).

we definatley get the hopper it is great to just go and redo a fovorite ride when crowds are lower. also we like to be able to hit the park later in the evening for EMH.
