To Hop Or Not To Hop..

That is my question... DH, MissSMIG, and I were talking about our possible September 2008 trip to WDW. So I booted up my computer and started pricing CBR - DH asks "Do we really need hoppers?" "Did we hop at all last year?" - after thinking awhile both MissSMIG and I agreed that we didn't hop at all, except for MNSSHP, but that is a seperate ticket. I asked him about the water park and he asked to find out how much it would be for a day pass. Did that it would cost $39.00 per person. So he doesn't want the water park option, and didn't enjoy Disney Quest - We can save over $300.00 if we don't add the waterpark and hopper feature... but he did say we could add a day... that would only be an additional $20-30.

Can I add the hopper there, if we want it. I still have two one day hoppper pass left from MissSMIG and my April trip.

9 days - 7 day basic ticket, no hopper - 1 play day waterpark out of pocket.

Total saved would be almost $500.00 but I get an extra night in WDW...

Re: To Hop Or Not To Hop..

If you can plan the details (like meals) around certain parks, that is a lot of money to save.

We tend to 'hop' to avoid crowds, take breaks, etc. For instance, I like to visit the German Hall for lunch or snack, while it is not to the children's liking more than once. So I 'hop' over from time to time.

Re: To Hop Or Not To Hop..

On our last trip the only time we did any hopping beside MNSSHP was going from Typhoon Lagon to MGM, if not we spent the entire... from opening to closing in the same park.

Another question... lets say we go to MK for EMH and leave for a few hours, can we go back to the same park later that day?

Re: To Hop Or Not To Hop..

Congratulations on that extra night. That is some great planning! We do not really hop a lot. I plan our meals for the park we are going to be in that day or at a resort in that area. We sometimes go to a second park on the day we go to AK to watch fireworks.

Yes you can. The tickets are for one park one day. The last time we had MYW tickets I just purchased extra days which was just a few dollars more and we used two days worth of tickets to go to two different parks on one day. We were not planning on doing a lot of hopping and it was cheaper than buying the park hopper for the whole week.

Re: To Hop Or Not To Hop..

Cool opportunity for the extra night.

We ALWAYS hop. It is part of the experience for us. One park in the morning, and another in the afternoon/evening after resort time in the middle of the day. If we didn't have the hoppers, we would feel too much pressure to stay at one park longer than comfortable. Plus, having to book PS at that park only. Just wouldn't work for us.

I am interested to see what you decide. Remember that everyone has their own perfect style of doing WDW. There is no wrong answer here!

Re: To Hop Or Not To Hop..

We are hopper addicts. With EMH, we have been known to hit three parks in a day just to break the day up a bit. I could spend a whole day at MK and maybe EPCOT, but I prefer to hit MGM or AK as several 1/2 day trips. But that's just me, lol.

Re: To Hop Or Not To Hop..

Hoping that the PPP is going on while there... DH doesn't want anything to do with it now, but that's what he said when I booked MNSSHP. I would book PPP in a heart beat for MissSMIG and myself, and maybe even MNSSHP for all of us... as of right now I don't know if HollyLynne will be joining us, she will be a freshman in college and I think it might be alittle hard for her to leave for a while week.

I shouldn't be getting excited, I won't be able to book till after the Holidays... funny my parents asked what to get DH and I for Christmas the other day and I told her the deposit for our vacation.... but I was only kidding.... I wonder will she or won't she... that is the question.

Re: To Hop Or Not To Hop..

We always buy the hopper. In the past we have always hopped. This past June.. no hopping. We made all ADR's, fireworks, shopping, FP's etc. so we stayed in one park each day. We really did not realize we had planned it that way. It worked out great for us.. but afterward.. we realized we lost money on the hopper option. Live and learn I guess.

Re: To Hop Or Not To Hop..

We're hoppers. I think we used our park hoppers every day last time. Morning park, afternoon break at resort, different park later in the day. Even if we didn't actually use them everyday, just knowing we had that flexibility if we needed a change was worth it for us.

Cool on the extra night!!

Re: To Hop Or Not To Hop..

To hop or not to Hop is always a tough question. You need to think if you plan to stay in just one park per day or if your going to be in one then Hop to another for a meal or show and back. We always Hop as it just seems to work for us as we make changes on the days were the crowds are larger in one Park and not another

We have always bought the hopper too, but last year we realized we didn't really use it. We felt like we had spent money that we didn't need to, so we've decided, at least for our upcoming trip, we're not going to hop. I've planned our days so that we can just do one park a day. We'll see how it goes!

Re: To Hop Or Not To Hop..

We hop some days and some days we don't. I think if your family has a history of not hopping and you can save that much dinero- I say go for it!!

(If you just read this post without reading the rest of the thread, it would sound very strange wouldn't it? )
