Tower of Terror restraints

When I was in WDW in 2001 on my last trip, I tried to make a beeline for the center of the back row on Tower of Terror, the seat with the seatbelt because, well, it's the best seat in the elevator. I had heard a while back that all of the elevators were being changed with the style of restraints to just seatbelts. Is this true? Or is it going to happen?

Me and my family were on the Tower of Terror just about a week ago. I was in the front row and the other 4 people I was with were also in the front row. We all had seatbelts. Actually the whole car had seat belts.

When we were there in March the elevator me and DH were in had seatbelts while the one my sister and mom were in had a lap bar. So it looks like maybe they are working on it and just haven't done them all yet.

One of the elevators has been refitted with lap belts in all the seats. The others still have the lap bars and one seatbelt.

I've heard that all the cars will be nothing but seat belts by Memorial Day. I've ridden ToT many times, but my last time was the first riding "the suicide seat." I do admit, I miss the air time, but having no control of your arms flying up is wonderful!

I get more airtime having the seatbelt than the lapbar. And from what I heard from the others in the elevator, they also experienced much airtime.

The airtime I liked was having someone larger than you sitting under the same bar as you. Maybe I'll just have my seatbelt a little looser next time!
