I am going to WDW December 1-9 it is not the first time ( about the ninth time I think ) but it been about 9 years, I have the dining plan but I was just wondering how much money a day do people allot for souvenirs or any thing else

Well first off Welcome to MB.

I always ask this question right before I go. It all depends.. I have a family of 4 and they like to get everything that we DONT NEED!!

I would say if you are on the ddp bring $50 per person per day or you can just tell the kids if they are little you only get x amount and when thats it thats it.. I usually bring $1300.00-2000.00 depends on if I can work some ot or not..

I don't spend that much on souviners, because I usually just browse through the week and the last couple of days I buy the things I really liked. I will admit that I love the pins and if I find a good Walt pin I will buy right on the spot. As for sweat shirts and stuff I tend to wait or I would impulse buy everything. Of course with kids they will want lots of things they see so I would put them on a budget of so much money per day or for the week whatever they understand better.

We have a family of 4, and usually reserve $100.00 per day for souvenirs and snacks like Mickey head bars, etc.

I am the wrong person to answer this question. My DH is a spend freak when we go to WDW. He manages to purchase everything and I mean everything in sight. I usually have to ship our purchases home from the hotel. But if I had my way, I would like to budget about $100-$125 per day for a family of 3.

100 a day is about average if you are paying for your room and passes (if you also need passes) with a credit card or have paid it in advance. I've found that as I get older (only my body) I bring less cash and just use a credit card or charge it back to the room. But you have got to control yourself because it is easier to charge (I'am sure we all know that) than pay with cash!

Best advice is take your best guess and double it. Then tell everybody that they are allowed HALF of you original amount.

If you have a car, check out the Disney outlet as well. (Character Premiere in LBV, I haven't been back to the Character Warehouse in Orlando yet since it's been redone).

I always attach a cc to my room key . . . one card to carry makes it easy, each night they deliver a daily total spent to the room, so you can see where you are, and how to budget for the next day! But, I have to agree, for me and my two DDs, we avg. about $100/day in food and stuff! (not including room/tickets).

With the dining plan, there were days that we did not spend a single cent. We also brought a backpack with water and other snacks. My DS and DD got a Disney gift card and we also put other money on it for them, so they kept track of all of their own spending with no money changin hands. We also use points from our Disney Visa card.

Welcome to MB. The Disney Outlet will save you a bundle!!!! My dh bought a really nice hooded sweatshirt there, in Disney it was 75.00, at the outlet it was 26.00. Make sure you check it out. Your kids will love it. They have alot of the same stuff as Disney World. It is not far from Disney either. Maybe a couple of miles.

Want to save a bundle on souveniers? If you can get to Character Outlet, Disney's Outlet store, you can save alot. There is a brand new one in Prime1 Outlets at the north end of International Drive and there is one in the Premium Outlets on Vineland Rd, (next to Dolly Partons). The Prime1 Outlet one is the best right now as it is new and larger. I got $65 denim jackets for $20, I got $25 and $20 large pins for $5 and $6. Everything is half or less of original price. I even got some $75 Mickey watches for $15. Tons of clothes, toys, collectables, art etc.

We do the same thing. We stop at the outlet on the way in to get a few things. Then we try to just look most of the week while we're at Disney. We let the kids choose a couple of things that they really wanted, which they can buy on one of the last 2 days. I had my kids earn Disney Dollars as allowance in the months leading up to the trip. They each only had $20-30. I also watch the Disney store for good sales before the trip and pack a few things to present to them as "surprise" souveniers during the week. Plenty of snacks are included with the Dining plan, so with the Disney Dollars and some money on our Disney Visa rewards card for DH & I, we really didn't spend much of anything.
