Re: Mary poppins??

DEFINATELY Mary Poppins in England! If you know that you can definately score tickets to that then go! I hear AMAZING things about the MP England show! No offense but Phantom most likely will be sticking around, in one form or another, in the US for a loooong time. There will be plenty of chances for you to see that here in the future. Great show, but Mary Poppins in London would be my top choice.

Re: Mary poppins??

I saw Phantom of the Opera on Broadway many years ago and it was so beautiful I wept from beginning to end. If you want a good love story, that's the way to go - very powerful music!

Re: Mary poppins??

Most definately go see Mary Poppins in the UK! I am so very lucky to live here and I have seen it. The theatre is beautiful and the show is just wonderful. I won't spoil it for you but there is a magical ending. I know there will be so many things you will want to do on your visit to the UK but please make sure this is one of them. It is only playing in London until January 12th then I believe it is moving on so if you don't see it now you may not geet another chance.

Re: Mary poppins??

Mary Poppins would be wonderful!! And in England no less.

I must admit to being a Phantom of the Opera fan, but I agree with Wishy. You can see it later on!

Re: Mary poppins??

Phantom is a must see, on Broadway!!! It is not the same when it is a traveling show. I worked in the theatre for years and there are certain shows that are not as good on the road. Also, there are different Phantoms, make sure it is Andrew Lloyd Webers, if that is the one you are interested in. Same story, different music and to me the music is what makes it.

My vote, Mary Poppins in England! But do see Phantom at some point, in NYC if possible.

Re: Mary poppins??

The Mary Poppins show is brilliant but it is more similar to the original books rather than the movie. There are a lot of things the same as the film and many of the songs but there are parts which were in the original writings and never made it to film. The actors were wonderful and as I say...the ending is magical. I cannot rave about this show enough. You must must go.

i very much agree with nicole. i surprised my wife with a trip to nyc to see phantom for our 1st anniversary and it was great. we were front and center and it blew us away. later we went to a production put on in new orleans and it just didn't come close to the broadway production. anyone who really want's the full phantom experience should go to nyc.

Re: Mary poppins??

We saw both - NYC (5 times!) and Las Vegas. They did cut down Vegas to 90 minutes, but they built the theater for this specific production and it is awsome - DO BOTH!
