4 days at parks - How would you do it?

I'm starting to get nervous about the amount of time we will have at the parks in March.

We will be spending 4 days at WDW after our cruise. Last year we had 10 days at the parks and felt like we couldn't do everything we wanted. Obviously we will have to approach it differently this year.

Here's what I'm thinking. Asking everyone in the family what are the 2 or 3 things they "must" do in each park. After compiling a list of "must do's" add in a couple of new things that we haven't tried before.

What do you think? Any suggestions with another way to handle it.

Thanks for your help!

I think your plan sounds good. You can't do everything so you need to pick a few things everyone wants to do. Once you do those the rest is just extra.

I think that sounds like a grand idea! If it were me, I would do a park each day. Try to do what you can, and make the most of it.

Re: 4 days at parks - How would you do it?

We generally do one 4-day trip and one 8-day trip to WDW each year. To be honest, 4 days often feels like a lot more time than you'd think. Those have been some of our best & fulfilling trips.

I suggest you make sure to utilize EMHs, get up early to make sure you are getting the opening time (or near opening) advantage, use lots of FPs, hit all the "must do's," & you should be fine!

Re: 4 days at parks - How would you do it?

I think you plan is a great one!

We just got back from 4 days at the parks, and it was DH's first trip. I was really worried about fitting in everything that we wanted to do, without completely exhausting ourselves.

As it turns out, we did exhaust ourselves () but that was due to how much resort-hopping we did to help us pick a resort for our next trip! If we would have focused more on the parks, I think we wouldn't have ended up so tired.

Wishy is right, 4 days can often seem like more than you expect! It felt longer to us than I expected it to, and we left WDW feeling as if we had accomplished a lot.

I say go with your plan of compiling everyone's top 3 must dos, and also consider the "little things" that you enjoy doing. (i.e. stopping for a certain snack, swimming at the resort, getting temporary Mickey tattoos, whatever. ) and figure out how to fit those in as well. I've found that WDW is much more enjoyable when you have a firm idea of the attractions you must do, but you avoid following a rigid 'do-this-then-this' plan.

Re: 4 days at parks - How would you do it?

We always go for long weekends, which is only Friday night, Sat and Sun . . . we are tired when we get home, but fit mostly everything in! ( I have a DD4 and DD8, so the big, long line thrill rides are a no go for us so that helps)

Make sure at check in you get a map of each park and a printed out schedule of show/event times . . . map out your plan the night before . . .taking advantage of EMH am and pm. Getting there early is the best way to get everything done. AND, then you can fit in a nap or dip in the pool in the afternoon . . . and hit a park that has later hours in the evening!

Anyway . . . what you miss you can save for next time . . . as a good excuse to come back for another visit!

Re: 4 days at parks - How would you do it?

We haven taken a few four day trips and I honestly think five days is the perfect amount of time, so four days really isn't too much of a difference! We take advantage of all EMH's morning and night with big rests and naps in between! We also just try and relax because we KNOW we can't fit everything--I think that just knowing that helps a lot. If we are there for six or more days I actually feel like we are more rushed on those trips because we are trying to do everything.

Re: 4 days at parks - How would you do it?

I feel the key is planning what you must see and do in each park and plan your days accordingly. You should be able to do it and if possible try to plan on the park with the EMH for that day

Re: 4 days at parks - How would you do it?

Thank you everyone! You have honestly made me feel much better already.

Dana - Thank you for offering to help with a plan of attack! I will definately take you up on it. Our dates are March 8 to 11th. We will probably not get to our resort until about 10:30 on the 8th (have to drive from Port Canaveral). We will have the full day on the 11th (which is P&P party, we are considering doing this) and will fly out early on the 12th (no parks this day).

Do you want me to post our "must dos" here, or pm you?

Thanks again! I keep telling myself that this trip to WDW is just a little add on that wasn't even supposed to happen. So I'm just going to try to enjoy whatever we get out of it. However, park tickets for 4 days are darn expensive -- not much different than what we paid for 10 days last year. So a certain part of me wants to make sure we "get our money's worth". I'm trying to tame that side of me! LOL.

Re: 4 days at parks - How would you do it?

KiKi, do you have hoppers? And does your family have something they want to do at each of the parks?

If so, here is what I would do:

Day 1 -- AK for morning. Lunch/pool at resort. Afternoon/evening at Studios.

Day 2 -- MK morning, Lunch/pool at resort. Afternoon/evening at World Showcase.

Day 3 -- Future World morning, Lunch/pool at resort. Afternoon at AK, Evening for special dinner.

Day 4 -- Morning at Studios. Lunch/pool at resort. MK for afternoon/evening.

We always try to arrange it so we have a morning and an evening in each park. We try to avoid a full day in a single park... probably because when the kids were little, they really needed a break in the middle of the day and then a change of scenery in the afternoon. Plus, I like to see each fireworks show...
