video taping ?

I have loads of vidoes from our WDW vacations but I have one problem ..the dark rides .. like POC and SE one way I can get fairly good video is to do close ups ..but then I lose alot of the surrounding scenes. Any body got some suggestions on this. I still have an old palm corder ..not a new fancy digital.

Something someone else might find useful .. I dont put my camcorder in a camera bag .. I pack it in a soft side cooler .. its better protection from bumps and drops ..and it doesnt get wet. there are lots of pockets and zippers too on those coolers.

I have had the same problems, but a couple of years ago I bought a new Canon Elura digital video camera. I can't believe how well it does in dark locations. Once it adjusts, which is almost immediate, you can't even tell that it is recording in the dark. Other than going that route, I don't have any other suggestions, but I am sure that others will.

Funny you ask. My wife calls me crazy, but I probably every attraction on video tape. (well, my favorites) I have a piece of **** camera, but I mostly tape for the sounds. The only on I never taped was World of Motion. I also got in trouble taping Alien Encounter. It's so dark; I guess they saw the red light from my camera!

Cool! I thought I was the only on out there. LOL!

One thing my hubby and I cannot agree on is what to do with the camcorder. He only wants to take in the backpack and I was worried that on some of the rides it might get knocked around. The reason we had to buy a new camcorder was because I dropped our old one :( So I don't want anything to happen to our new digital. Anyone have any suggestions. .....Do you wrap the camcorder in anything or just sit it in the soft side cooler? Also, do you usually take in a backpack for things you might need.

Thanks,
Paula

I just sit it in the cooler, they are so great because they have pockets for the battieries and tapes. I stick money, the park passes and everything in the cooler ..so nope I dont carry a backpack, I do take those big gallon zip lock bags, for extra protection from the wet rides but really the inside of the cooler has never gotten wet. This year I was thinking with the new security searches they are doing at the parks just having everything in one spot is gonna be a plus :)
