Disney in April

Ok now that my plans are made and we are going in April can anyone tell me what the weather will be like and how are the lines?
Are the water parks open then and which one would be best for a 4 and 7 year old.

Also.. since we are staying at the Animal Kingdom lodge can anyone tell me what not to miss there?

Thanks for all the help and this site is GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!

:)

I think we covered the crowds in this thread. As far as weather, maybe someone else can help. You can check out this weather.com page, it has averages for the days you are going.

As for AKL, you will love it. The pool is great, and you can even see animals from the pool area, or the lookouts by the slide. Overall, AKL is a great place to relax. At the rear of the lobby, on the second floor, there are some overlook areas that have rocking chairs and a fire pit at night. Nice place to sit and relax. There are also some great sitting areas in the lobby, and a bar just a half a flight down with great views.

Boma's is pretty good, great for a buffet. Plenty of choices and great desserts. Anyone can find something they like here. Jiko is great, one of my top three restaurants in all of WDW. A little pricey though, but great for a night out without kids. They both feature African food. I have heard that the food bar by the pool has little to offer, so don't count on it for one of your meals.

The one other suggestion is take time to talk to the CM there. They are mostly all from Africa, and can explain anything in the hotel. There are also many hidden lookouts and quiet spots throughout the resort.

Have a great trip!

What days in April are you going? I think there are several of us going in April and staying at AKL also. We'll all have some great updates for April.

Ooops, I made the assumption when reading the last thread that she was going April 16 to the 20th, but that is not what she said. The deal must be booked by the 16 and ends the 20th, so the long answer is I don't know. Sorry, that weather link may be wrong.

Here is the weather info I found listed for each month at Disney World.

http://www.disneyclubs.com/misc/disn...ld_weather.htm

I am also going in April. It looks like April has the least rain surprisingly so. I just hope I hit the end of the Spring Break crowd since I am going April 12-15. Fingers crossed. Since Easter is earlier this year maybe I will be lucky.

So my day at WDW is coming up very soon. I know the crowds have been record breaking, but are there any signs that the crowds are starting to lessen. More importantly by April 12th. :) The crowds will be what they will be and I will have a good time no matter, but can't help but be curious. :)

Unfortunately, Disney, or anyone else for that matter, does not post attendance numbers. So you have to guess. A good way to determine what crowds will be like is to check the park hours of the Magic Kingdom. The later it is open, the more crowds there will be. The shorter the hours, the less crowds. So, according the hours, Disney is expecting bigger crowds the week of the 14th than the week of the 7th, but not nearly as big as the first week of the month. The last two weeks of April shouldn't be too bad at all. By the way, this is pretty accurate. Disney is very good at forcasting crowds, and adjusts hours accordingly.

Magic Kingdom April 2002 hours

That is a very good tip. I will not forget that one. So can you use the park hours system to determine the crowd levels between parks as well or are the parks equal in crowd levels no matter the day?

No, the rule doesn't work that way. There really is no good way to tell which park will be crowded on which day. It used to be easier when early entry existed, you just didn't go to that park on that day. I have found that MK is more crowded on the weekends than the other parks, but during the week, you are on your own.

Well that's good to know about MK and the weekends. My main focus is to visit AK because when we went last year we didn't plan it in and our first day rained after our flight landed 3 hours later than planned. Then I would like to revisit MGM and Epcot. MK is my least favorite, but you have to go, so we will probably plan than for our last day, which we will only have time for a few hours on Monday (april15th).

Thanks again for the great tips.
