Cheerleader question - Page 3

Yes. And I was a cheerleader for YEARS and I really tried to love and embrace the cheerleaders young and old when we were there, but by the end of the week I had seen enough glittered eyeshadow and gelled back curly ponytails to last a lifetime.

McFizzie -- it's not the numbers of cheerleaders, because WDW is MADE to handle zillions of guests.

But they travel in huge loud packs, and they don't always know when to be quiet (like in the attractions!). That means that if you are near them in a line or a crowd, you may not be able to have conversations of your own.

They zip in and out of crowds, so you practically have to come to a complete standstill when they come your way.

And most recently, we were sort of appalled by the older ones who were on the cell phones constantly, including once when it really messed up a bunch of us in line for Space Ranger Spin because one girl couldn't get off her call about the time that she was to board the ride -- which messed up the whole lot of them because apparently they had already picked who was riding with whom, and now she was messing the whole plan up! The CM was trying to just get them to board with anyone else, but no, they had a PLAN! It became a squealing, crazy sight, but the poor CM finally got some order. Those girls obviously were completely unconcerned that there were hundreds of people who had been waiting in line behind them, kids and their parents, quietly tapping their feet and trying to be patient.

(I am not kidding about the last thing.)

It's just stuff like that... at least they are not usually like some of the other student groups I have seen there, who curse and cut in lines whenever they feel like it and make out in front of kids... that's the good news!

That sounds a hundred times worse than what I imagined.

I am so glad I asked. That would have totally ruined my vacation and any chance I have of making DH and the boys come back to WDW.

Oh, sweet, innocent little McFizzy! Be glad, be very glad. Yes, it's BAD, very BAD. We were there the last two weeks of February this year.

Now, just to clear this up - I actually watched some of the competition on ESPN when I was down there (because what else can you watch at WDW - but that's another gripe for another day) and what these kids do is amazing! BUT - once they're let loose in the Parks!

Our one (and only) February trip, a CM was complaining to another CM that a cheer leading team did a lift in front of the castle--which is a no no. They dropped their team member; she broke her wrist; mom had just got done chewing out the CM and threatening a lawsuit against Disney.

Thats when I lose it, with cell phones. I would be the one walking up to her, grabbing the phone and hanging it up. Rudeness back at cha girl!

MissSMIG and I went April 2007 and there was a dance competion as well as Cheerleaders at WDW and they were performing in EPCOT.
