Epcot has far fewer "rides" but is more educational in nature. You get a chance to view different cultures in one area, and in the other you focus primarily on educational, ecological and technological advancements. There are a few rides, but no where near what there is in MK, and for me anyway the "Magical" feeling is not as strong at Epcot. If you want to spend time "exploring and learning" go to Epcot, if you want to experience rides, MK is a better bet if you only have one day (which is a horrible thing to even imagine!).

Hey, another tink! Welcome to DisneyCentral! How exciting, a first time visitor. Personally, I love both Magic Kingdom and EPCOT. They both have so many positive things it would be hard to pick one over the other. If it were me, I would go to EPCOT, it is usually the first place we go when we arrive at WDW. If you haven't been there, definitely go. EPCOT goes at a little slower pace than MK. There are more rides at MK, but there is much more to do and see at EPCOT. Great restaurants, great exhibits and Test Track!
So, have you been to any other parks besides MK? Your husband may enjoy Disney-MGM studios if he loved MK. There are some great thrill rides, and overall, the park is fantastic. |

Welcome!
I definitely think you should talk your husband into going to Epcot! It is vastly different from MK but you will enjoy it none-the-less! Imagine eating and drinking from the different countries; seeing the future technology; seeing the past; going deep beneath the sea; and traveling in a great big golf ball! You will finds the crowds much more tolerable, too. My advice, don't bother riding Spaceship Earth (the big ball) until the end of the day.
Wherever you go - have fun!

welcome :)
you really should try Epcot, it may not be the "thrill ride" park but its wonderful. Cinderellafifi really said it best. they are getting ready for the Flower and Garden show too now ..so I am sure they already have a lot of the flowers out :) I love World Showcase ..its like taking a trip around the world but never leaving the states. there is shopping too in each country!! Ohh and you cant beat the Italian Pavillion for chocolate!!! France for Pastries ( spelling?) Germany Teddy bears!! you didnt mention kids .. so if its only the two of you .. a romantic dinner in Mexico is a must !

You should go to Epcot for just one thing, the food.
They have fabulous restaurants! They have tons of fun stuff to do as well. It's totally different from MK. It's more adult oriented, so if you're going without children it's perfect. It's very big, so be prepared to do some walking. Have a great weekend!:) |

Just a warning! When I went to EPCOT yesterday, the entire front, left parking lot was a huge construction zone. It looked like they were building a miniature football stadium. (and then some) I have no idea what's going to take place.
As for me I love EPCOT, but I know my 2 year old son enjoys MG. |

EPCOT for sure!
You cannot beat going around the world in 10 minutes. -If you have kids and they are very young MK would be more apealing to them. -If you are going sans kids or they are old enough to appriciate the diffrent cultures and new technologies EPCOT hoasts go to EPCOT. and don't forget about the best fireworks show you will ever see, Illuminations. that is just my humble little opinion :) btw. Welcome to Disney Central and don't forget to give us a full report just to make us all jelous

My opinion is as follows: Magic Kingdom is a wonderful park, but I think it's a bit overrated. There are SO MANY people there, no matter what day you go and the walkways are so much more narrow than at EPCOT (note the caps, just a personal denial that it's not called Epcot now... :( ) so you have to deal with many more people, and stroller people. EPCOT (again, note caps) has such a wide variety of stuff to do, plus it's more than 3 times the size of Magic Kingdom. EPCOT is over 300 acres, while the Magic Kingdom is right around 100.

Hi tinkabell31533 and welcome to DC.
This might be out of the question, but have you considered staying overnight and going to both? You can get offsite hotel rooms REALLY cheap at the last minute. The room might not be that great, but.......... If not, my vote is for EPCOT -- you can get something to eat, go to the boardwalk too lvbug |

I also vote for Epcot. It's just so different from all the other parks, and, for adults, there's a lot more to do than at MK. The main reason is that MK is designed mainly for families, not adults without kids. In fact, when we go without kids, we usually don' t go to MK for more than half a day, no matter how long we're there. Now, when we go with the kids, like we are this summer, we spend a good 2 days at MK, because half the fun is watching the looks on their faces.:) :) :D :D
