Aug 08 or Feb 09

Hi! I am looking for some opinions. Would you wait to go until Feb 09 (getaway from winter in ma), or go Aug 08 (cheaper, sooner, but hotter)? Our Feb vacation starts on President's Day. We could probably extend our trip a couple of days before or after, but don't want the kids to miss too much school.
We went last Aug 13-20 during a Wonderful Week of Disney. It was hot, but manageable, with breaks at the hotel for swimming. We will be trying BC for the first time, so would definitely have a good place to cool off.
What do you think?

Re: Aug 08 or Feb 09

Wow that is a hard one. I would chose Feb 09 just because of the temps in Florida in Aug. I have enjoyed my trips in cooler months much more that the summer months. I just find it more relaxing and people aren't as grumpy! However if the temps won't bother you too much go for it in Aug 08, ecspecially if that means a longer vacation!

I would pick Feb 09. I find it unbearably hot in August, but then others don't mind it at all. Plus I'm a fan of the winter getaway.

would your AUG 08 coincide with free dining if it is offered? if so....i'd go for that. if not, i'd go for FEB 09 - longer and cooler!

The Unofficial Guide says President's weekend is really busy. And February can be cold (as in wear a winter jacket cold).

I love February, but would choose the last week of august over the crowds of president's day weekend any day.

Me too Plus you mentioned that you may extend the trip. You could have your 1st day on that sunday before Presidents day and then the tues and beyond after that will be empty.

Re: Aug 08 or Feb 09

Well, if you were going more in Aug-Sept I would say that because we went the day after Labor Day and it was the slowest I have ever experienced! I loved it, I'm sure it being my honeymoon didn't have too much to do with that. But I know MA weather! My parents moved to RI to get away from it, thank God! But here it's only slightly better. I'm not the winter girl, so I would choose to get away from the snow and yuk! Then again we are going in December this year and I find hating that I'm counting down to the snowy season and we're just getting out of it

Re: Aug 08 or Feb 09

I would vote for August. We own a timeshare Presidents week, and it is much busier than August. Plus, BC in August with Stormalong Bay is a home run!! Also- if you can avoid the kids missing school, it's another factor that points me towards August.

I've been in both August and February, and I have to say I like the weather in February much better...however, I would switch to August to avoid the President's Week crowds in a heartbeat.

Re: Aug 08 or Feb 09

Most of the Florida Schools start on August 18th. That means many of the locals will not be at the parks during the first week. August will definitely see lower crowds. Yes, August is definitely hot, but, if you plan your ride times accordingly and make use of the many inside air-conditioned rides, it won't be that bad. President's Day week is usually very busy. Do you prefer weather in the 40-50's or the 90's? Which can you manage better? I would much rather jump on a short line and get into air conditioning, than get stuck outside in a line in cold weather where I can't move.
