Got this out of the all ears newsletter . . . fun stuff to do if you are there during this time:

A number of activities are planned around the World to observe Earth Day:

-- On April 17, there will be tree planting at the All-Star Resorts. At the Contemporary Resort there will be photo opportunities with Jiminy Cricket, a recycling game, cookie decorating, face painting, organic foods, and ladybug releases. At Pop Century from 10 a.m. to noon, there will be tree planting and crafts outside of the Food Court.

-- On April 18, there will be tree planting and crafts around the back of Old Port Royale at Caribbean Beach Resort from 10 a.m. to noon.

-- April 18-20 at Epcot the Flower and Garden Festival will celebrate "Green" Weekend. Various related activities will be held in The Seas with Nemo & Friends pavilion.

-- On April 22, Animal Kingdom will observe Earth Day, which is also the park's 10th anniversary, with a "Party for the Planet." The parkwide Earth Day Celebration will include Earth Day button distribution and various activities, such as Supermarket Sweep and "What's in Sue's Poop?" Jiminy Cricket will make appearances and conservation stories will be told by the Animal Programs team at Rafiki's Planet Watch. In addition, Pipa, the talking recycle can, and Gitar-Dan have Earth Day messages worked into their regular set times. Check the Times Guide for show schedules.

-- Also on April 22, over at the Magic Kingdom Rose Garden from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Earth Day celebration will include Jiminy Cricket appearances, Earth Day button distribution and face painting. At Fort Wilderness Settlement Outpost EPA literature will be distributed, while at Port Orleans Resort there will be a display of recycled art in both lobbies. At the Downtown Disney Marketplace from 1 to 4 p.m., there will be various activities, including ladybug releases, "worms and dirt" from Disney chefs, Jiminy Cricket drawing classes by Art of Disney, and environmental displays between Once Upon a Toy and Earl of Sandwich. NOTE: All activities are subject to change or cancellation without notice.

Lot's of Jimney Cricket!! Is that because he's supposed to be our "conscience" and we should be conscientious about the earth? Sounds like fun though!! I wish I was going to be there.

Yes when you go to Rafiki's Planted watch, there is a CM holding a big piece of Sue's Poop . . . they tell you the success of their breeding program is ALL ABOUT the POOP!!!

Who and what is Sue?
We went over there once..and then turned right back around cause we were way bored!
Anyway, I will have to go back this summer and pick up lots of good science stuff for my classroom.

Oh it's a great little side trip . . . nice and relaxing and if you are into SCIENCE there is so much to see and do!! If you go first in the am you can see a vet do a procedure on an animal . . . and there are snakes, goats and sheep and lots of exotic reptiles and insects!! My DDs love it there!!

Sue I believe is the elephants name . . . altho now that I am thinking about it Sue might be the name of the Dino outside of the ride?? I'm in NJ not FL right now so I can't check the Disney reference book? (I'm such a Disney dork! )

I would love to go for Earth day. Did anyone participate in Earth hour on March 26th? It was really neat to see all the lights off across the city. I wonder if they did anything at WDW?
