MGM's Beauty & the beast on stage

Has anyone seen this show?
Is it good?
How many shows do they have per day?
How soon before the show should we get there to get a good seat?

Belle is my DD's favorite character.

Thanks!!

It's one of our "Can't miss" things. We absolutely love it, & there's a "pre-show" that you don't want to miss, either. We usually get there as soon as they let us in...about 20-30 minutes before so we can get good seats, even though there really aren't any bad seats. If you want to take pictures, though, try to NOT sit behind the sound booth. It shows up in your pictures then.

I haven't seen it but my DW and youngest DS (almost 4 at the time) saw it last July when we were in MGM. DW loved it and my DS was mesmerized by the show. He talked about it for days, so much that we took him to see the Broadway show!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a great story about this 'show'. It opened during my second ever trip to WDW - one in which we brought pretty much the whole family to celebrate my youngest niece's 5th birthday.
Well, turns out, that was the week the MOVIE of Beauty and the Beast opened. I sat in on the show that Friday - not yet having seen the movie, and found it very moving and exciting. (In fact I still have this on tape). The audience had no idea what this was all about or even how big Beauty and the Beast was going to become, and gave it some welcome, but mild applause. It used to be shown in a little open stage area that no longer really exists at MGM. There was no Sunset Blvd or TOT or coaster there yet!!!!
The show captured the essence of the movie by using tiny bits of dialogue (then, supplied in recordings by the movie cast), and mostly featured the songs and an extended dance number for the wolf and bat scenes.
That night - after parkhopping(!)-I caught the first night showing of the movie with some older members of my family. It had opened the same night as The Addams Family, so there were long lines at the theater near Pleasure Island (sheesh- I don't even remember there being much of a Disney Marketplace then). Ubeknownst to us, some of the animators of the film were in the audience, also (they received applause when their names showed up at the end of the movie credits), and everyone in the theater knew they were in for a treat and responded to this movie with such enthusiasm and applause that I have rarely seen afforded to animated movies. The applause went on for minutes after the movie ended that night! (And funnily enough, some audience members, dressed as the "Addams Family", who apparently missed getting into the movie they'd come for, were there, too!)
Years later, I went to see Beauty and the Beast on Broadway, during previews. I was fortunate enough to meet Alan Menken, the composer, who was so friendly that he introduced me to Linda Woolverton (the writer). I asked them both if they had seen the production done at Disney World. Alan was confused. He hadn't known about the one at MGM. Linda looked forward to catching it after I had mentioned it to them.

The new show at MGM is probably a highlight to people who either love the movie, or who would like to see a nice, light spectacle with colorful characters, magic surprises, and of course, a wonderful score. It certainly is one of the highlights of MGM, though I don't always visit it - I usually give it a few years in between seeing it (WOW- it's been running that long that I can actually say that!). I love the new stage area they built for it once it proved to be a success. I never bothered retaping it, though I noticed some mild adjustments from the versions I have on video.

If you have the time to check it out while at WDW, then most certainly do!
:)

I absolutely love this show. I try to see it every time I go to WDW, although sometimes it doesn't work out that way. I loved it so much, I later saw it on Broadway in NYC and although the one on broadway is a lot longer, it was very similar...what I am trying to say is that it is VERY well done...

We haven't been to MGM in some time, but the last time we were there and saw the show we loved it. It was a must see every time we were at MGM.

I also, think Beauty & The Beast is a must for everyone. My family has seen it many times. So now, when my Family are on certain attractions that I can't go on, I will go and see the show by myself. I love the costumes and music!!! When at DW, I am just a kid at heart!! JOANN:)

Wow Geeman, that is a great story... especially the part about meeting the composer & writer! B&B is a must do for our family. Our 4 yr old DD loves it!! The preshow, like ilvminnie mentioned, is great. A wonderful acapella group performs.

Rlander, since your DD loves Belle, don't miss the storytime with Belle at MK!

Loved this show it was wonderful. We got seated about 15 minutes before the show it was not crowded at all. The pre-show entertain is really good. There are 4 guys (can't remember the name of the group) but you think they are the set-up crew then they start playing with the equipment and singing they are really good. I think you'll all enjoy the show. We did and I have three DS's.
