Re: Recommendations

Welcome to mousebuzz.

The information I learned from here is great and so helpfull and I think I have become addicted to Disney. I have not been there in ten years as well and I had so many questions. You have the hard part done-booking a resort- the rest is easy and so much fun. Make sure to book your dinning reservations soon if you didn't allready because I learned the hard way that the good places book up quick.

Happy Disney travels!

Re: Recommendations

Our must-do's by park...

MK - Big Thunder Mountain, fireworks and parades
EP - Soarin', a walk around the World Showcase, Turtle Talk with Crush, margaritas in Mexico
AK - Kilamonjaro Safari, Expedition Everest, It's Tough to be a Bug
HS - Tower of Terror, Rock'n Roller coaster,

Must-do's not necessarily associated with the parks....

*Character dining
*Rest time by the pool
*Hotel hopping/sightseeing
*Pressed penny/pressed quarter collecting
*Pin trading

And actually, planning it all is another one of my favorites, so enjoy!

Hello boilerjeff!

Welcome to Mousebuzz!!

A lot of people on here have already posted some really great "must do's" that pretty much cover ours.

The biggest "must-do" (and I know this is going to sound cheesy, but it's true so bare with me) is to stop and take it all in. Really look around and pay attention to all the little details that Disney has incorporated into everyhing they do.

Ok, that's all Ive got. Have fun!!! And of course feel free to ask any other questions you may have.

Re: Recommendations

You are right. I mean I know that even though we are spending a week, I know that we wont be able to even comprehend 1/10th of what there is to see. The thing is, we have waited until our kids were old enough to understand and remember what they will see. I can honestly say that I too am about as excited as a child because I cannot wait to see their faces.

That is one of the best parts....seeing their faces light up. Nothing can compare. Just as others have said live in the moment and take a deep breath and explore, explore, explore!

As far as the parks go..don't try to do it all because you never will. Have your family map out the attractions they HAVE to see and start there. Usually..and this is just a weird tip I have found..when you enter a park..go to the left..when you enter a ride queue (if there is more than one) go to the left..people have a natural tendency to go right therefore more people typically start in Tomorrowland in MK than Adventureland. And the Left queue at Pirates of the Carribean is always a good 5-10 minutes shorter wait than the right side.
A PLAN IS A MUST!!! We take the time the night before to make a rough plan of what we want to see and do . . . since we go a lot we know the ins and outs . . . I always see so many people either 1. Fighting 2. Wondering in Circles or 3. Just plain exhausted!!!

That is not the way to enjoy DISNEY . . . you can not see it all, but like Bella said with a plan and FASTPASS you will see enough to feel satisfied.

Go early at park open and take a break in the afternoon . . . by 1pm the FL sun is so so HOT . . . and that is a busy time you are going!!

Only one thought on the left and right idea! And, call me crazy . . . but the last few times I've noticed the right side to be a LOT LESS CROWDED . . . I think cuz the "go to the left" tip has been around awhile . . . it's NOW time to go to the right!!!

I forgot . . . WELCOME To MB . . . you are going to it here and you will feel like an old pro by the time you go on your trip!!

And, when I was there this weekend, they still had the bounce back offer in the rooms . . . so who knows . . . it might not be 11 years until you go again!?!?!

PS. Check out the trip report section of this site too . . . lots of really great stuff!

I recently talked to a guy who took his family to WDW for the first time. He complained about lines, cost, etc. I asked if he used the dining plan--"What dining plan?" he asked. I asked what time of day he arrived at the park--"Oh, sometime after 11a.m."

In short, he went to WDW without researching it. He spent thousands of dollars and had a rotten time. Spending a few bucks on the UG could have made all the difference.
Cavey, your are always soo helpful! And everything your saying is absolutely true, & most of the guide books repeat what you just said.
