Segways at Epcot

I know there is a lesson and tour offered at Epcot to ride a Segway ($95 per person), but can't you also try out a Segway somewhere in Innoventions?

If you've ever done this I'd love to hear more about it.

Thinking of doing this during our August trip.

I'm not sure if, or when, non-tourists are allowed to try the Segways in Innoventions. That is the fleet of Segways for the Segway tours and Segway Central is where tour participants get their lessons and training (about an hour) before the tours. Now, tours end when World Showcase opens at 11 AM each day, so, there are plenty of the things. I just don't know who gets to play.

We have done the Segway around the World tour and enjoyed it. It is mostly about riding the Segways on walkways that in only 2 hours' time will be choked with guests sprinkled with some factoids about Epcot, WS, and the countries' pavilions.

I don't think anyone can ride them when the parks are open. There is usually a CM who will be on them explaining how they work, but, for liability reasons, they can't have guests riding them while other guests are around.

I thought that they was actually someplace inside Innoventions that you could try them out; maybe I'm mistaken. We'll just have to ask when we're at Epcot in August.

There is a place. We've never done it but we've watched it. The line wasn't long but it moved pretty slowly. You don't get to ride it for long nad the area is small but it's a way to try it for free.

If you have AAA you can get a discount on the Segway tour.

There is a place in Innovations, can't tell you the exact building but check when you get there. We did it but I confuse the buildings, I'll try to figure that out for you.

The line takes a little while, you go into a small theater to watch a movie clip and get the 10 cent tour of how to operate it. Then you step out and each get a chance to try it. Essentially, step on, find your balance and demonstrate you have a feel for the speed, start & stop. Then you make one short loop, around 25 ft or so, and back to start. It's very cool

You'll end up adding the WS Tour to your wish list for the next trip. We did - will be doing it this Sept.

(PS - must be <250 lbs - I'm sure the man on the one next to me was fibbing on that point)

Innoventions West (not East) in Segway Central.
That's where they are anyway.
