Weather tips?

Hi WDW fans,

Leaving for WDW Friday April 12 and the weather looks like it will be turning. I think it is just partly to mostly cloudy for Friday and Saturday but on Sunday it is suppose to be scattered T-Storms and possibly on Monday as well which is our last day.

I was wondering if there were some great tips for how to deal with the weather at WDW. Last year we went and it was reported with scattered T-Storms but it just rained a couple of times and for not too long each time. Both times it actually rained we were indoors and it stopped by the time we went back out. So anybody have their favorite way to have fun even when it rains at WDW?

Let me know.

Usually when it is raining, we head for EPCOT or MK. You can spend quite some time in each pavilion in Future World, so there isn't a lot of walking between them to be done. Spring rain on Florida is usually hit and miss, like you described. Magic Kingdom is great too because the rides are all pretty close together, and all of the waiting areas are indoor, so you only get rain when walking to the next ride.

As a native, I have this advice - don't count on the rain. If it is calling for a "chance" of showers, it will more than likely be a small chance. And, in Florida, wait 20 minutes and the weather will change (unless Weather Channel has Orlando covered in heavy green the entire day).

If you are very concerned, which I don't think you should be, go to a drug store or WalMart and purchase some cheap rain ponchos to throw in a back-pack. Then, you can run around and not get too wet. As a back-up, you could always use them on Splash Mountain.

Have a WONDERFUL trip!! I am sooooo jealous!! Post your trip report right away for us, k? :) :)

Thanks for those great tips. If it rains I am going to follow them.

I will post how the trip goes as soon as I get back.

I am already planning next years trip. Next years will be the first time we take the kids and make a road trip of it as well. My kids are Disney nuts (like that's hard to believe :) ).

If anyone has any other tips, I am a sponge ready to soak up the info. :)

mickey ponchos !! we have a collection of them ( 8 sets of 4 yellow ones and 3 sets of the animal kingdom biege ).. and even though I pack them ..seems we get caught in the rain with out them and have to buy more :)
the only problem we have had with rain is they have closed thunder mountian and splash mountian .. but in all the years we have gone the rain never last very long. I will tell you what I do like about the rain .. it can sure clear the parks out!!!!!!

I'm with Tinkerbell... we love the rain; we just go about our day like normal while so many other people stop in their tracks or leave.

Fifi! Wearing ponchos on Splash Mountain?!? Sigh...I just don't know what to say! :D

Good thing, you may have logged in tomorrow to find you tree avatar no longer next to your name. :D :D I can't imagine wearing a poncho on Splash Mountain, not only do you look funny, but that is what is fun about the ride, trying not to get wet.

Well, I brought my laptop with me to WDW and I am typing this from our room at the All Star Movies resort. We had a great first day. It rained for quite awhile, but as soon as we got to the parks it stopped and didnt pick back up for the rest of the day or evening. I was discouraged when we landed and there was rain hitting the windows of the plane. It rained the whole ride of the shuttle from the airport. It rained while we checked it, which they had a room ready even though it was only 2pm and not the normal 4pm check in, so we got in our room early. It rained as we walked all the way to our room lugging our luggage. We got ready and put things away and as soon as we got off the bus at Animal Kingdom the rain stopped and did not pick up. I hope Saturday we are as lucky.

Here are some photos I put up from today.

I will update more as we go.

Cool, an on-site trip report! Glad to hear it's going great for you! (Well, now anyway!) I notice that in almost every picture Kim has her purse? Tee hee hee... :D

Wow, it's only your first day, and you already have great pictures(I especially like the one with you driving the frog) and a great story. Plus, I'm a little jealous, since I don't have a laptop or a digital camera. My reviews will have to wait until my trip is over and will be from memory(that is, what I have left of it-sometimes I get a little brain dead after a WDW trip). Enjoy the rest of your trip. I look forward to reading your reports daily. By the way, what are the crowds like?:) :) :)
