Food & Wine Festival with kids

We will be at WDW during the Food & Wine Festival. What is there for kids that is different during that time? Anything? We'll have DD5, DD2, and DS2 with us, and would like to enjoy part of it without boring them to death! Has anyone gone to this with little kids?

Re: Food & Wine Festival with kids

They have Kidcot stations all around World Showcase where young ones can do small arts & crafts. You will find one at most, if not all, pavilions. Have one adult stay with the kids, while the other one gets in line for the food. They are marked on the map and the kids get each stop at a station stamped on their own sheet.

Re: Food & Wine Festival with kids

Thanks for the suggestion. My oldest did that last time and seemed to enjoy it. I was just wondering if there was anything special for the kids during the Festival.

Re: Food & Wine Festival with kids

They have the kid cot stations at every country and they can do a craft. Do that and get them a passport. Hopping countreis can be fun for the kids this way...my DD loved it.

For the Epcot flower/garden festival there were TONS of extras for kids too do . . . but food and wine . . . I dunno? The Flower/Garden had a special book that listed all the events, concerts, kids things, etc . . . so pick one of them up when you first get too the park.

The food and wine isn't really an "event" . . . there are just EXTRA carts of specialty foods from the particular country you are in, paired with a suggested wine/beer . . . so you can stop, eat, drink and BE VERY MERRY . . . while you walk around the countries with the kids . . . do the rides, see the characters, etc!

ENJOY!!!

Re: Food & Wine Festival with kids

there were special exhibits for kids (i am getting my years confused, so i'll just list some of the ones we have done the past 2 years):

honey (with info on honey, little honey sticks for the kids to try and a craft to make)

pears (with coloring sheets and pear info and games)

native american teepee (with coloring sheets inside the teepee for the kids)

morrocco or turkey (i can't remember) - had demonstrations the kids enjoyed watching, making pottery and making marbled designs on paper. also a cooking demonstration that my 7 year old enjoyed.

different countries have different things going on outside sometimes (china has acrobats, italy had a little outdoor play, france had a mime, morrocco had a band and belly dancer, japan had the candy maker and drummers, africa outpost had a drummer, etc). these were great, one of us got in line, while the other watched with the kids. then we met up and enjoyed our snacks while enjoying the entertainment.

my kids loved food and wine festival - they were (close to) 4 & 7, and we also went the previous year. they loved trying new foods and we made it fun for them to get to have something new and exciting. we did make sure that even in the places it was something we knew they would not like, we got something they would, (like ice cream floats in africa since we knew they wouldn't want the items we wanted from the booth).

have fun!!! i am jealous, i soooo want to go this year!!

I am really not able to answer your query to be honest but if it anything like the Flower and Garden festival then you will ALL have a blast.

Re: Food & Wine Festival with kids

I remember that they had small activity centers for kids similar to what they have in the Flower and Garden festival. I remember one area was about peanuts and it was kind of geared to kids (although, I guess only kids without nut allergies) and there was a place where they had all these vegetable cutouts and you could make big vegetable faces. It is hard to explain but it was fun and definitely meant for the kids. If I remember correctly, most of the kid friendly stuff for Food and Wine was sort of on the cusp of Future World and World Showcase, sort of where Minnie's butterfly garden gets set up for Flower and Garden.

Plus your kids might enjoy the fun music of the Eat to the Beat concerts.
