Typhoon Lagoon in November?
We are planning a trip this November to Disney World and wanted to know if anyone have done the waterparks during Thanksgiving week and was it too cold? Would you do it again? Would you save that for a Spring/Summer trip only? Was it crowded? Is the water heated?

Re: Typhoon Lagoon in November?
Haven't done the waterparks during the winter months but was checking out the hours for our December trip and the calendar for Typhoon Lagoon shows it closed for refurb November 1 - December 31.
Blizzard Beach looks like it will be open.

Re: Typhoon Lagoon in November?
The water is heated, and I know a lot of people who have gone there during the winter months with great success! It really depends on the day's particular weather. The water parks, as you can imagine, are usually not very crowded during the winter months so it's a great time to go.
If you are going in November, be prepared for Typhoon Lagoon to be closed. Each of the parks is shut down for a full month rehab in the winter, and November looks like it's TL's time this year!

Yes, they alternate the two parks each year for a refurb!
We always go to WDW in Nov for DD8's birthday . . . and the weather is warm enough! We don't go to the waterparks, but we go in the pools at the resorts which are heated! I think it will be fine . . . as long as we don't have one of those weird cold snaps like last year . . . were it was 57 degrees in the am and only got up to 75 in the night! |

Re: Typhoon Lagoon in November?
We did BB for the first time the day before Thanksgiving last year, and really loved it. Got there at opening and wasn't crowded at all. Water felt a little cool at first, but fine by 11:00. Crowds picked up by noon, but still not too bad - 15 minute average wait, maybe? Much better than being in any of the other parks that day, crowd-wise. High that day was probably upper 70's.

Re: Typhoon Lagoon in November?
I really think the waether is still warm enough most of the time to go to the water parks....depends of course on the weather you are there, but DD was able to swim in january without freezing to death, so I am going to assume that november is warmer.

Re: Typhoon Lagoon in November?
I've seen Thanksgiving Days that were in the 80s and I've seen them in the 60s.
Prepare for the best, but expect the worst. Technically it's still hurricane season too. Both water parks go down for month long refurbs every year. They just don't both go down at once. Typically one has been in October and the other in November. I have also seen closings of one park or the other during January and February. Edit: I just did some checking and you're not going to Typhoon Lagoon in November or December this year. My guess would be you're not going to Blizzard Beach in January or February next year. But the good news is BB will be open while TL is closed and vice verse. I think I like BB better. As for crowds, Disney is already planning reduced crowds at the water parks or they wouldn't be able to close one. After that, any slightly bad weather will reduce the number of people going. If you go later in the day, there will be smaller crowds too. Think how many times you've trekked to the beach for a full day, and after about 3 hours, you've already had enough. Well, here, you CAN leave after 3 hours if you want and not feel like you've wasted a whole day's travel getting to the beach.

Re: Typhoon Lagoon in November?
We went 18 years ago on our honeymoonin early novenber. itwas very cold and the park was deserted. even though the water is heated the air is not. Tim I was trying to kill him. It can be very iffy. as others have said, hope for the best and prepare for the worst.
