WDW during Thanksgiving week?

I would like to take my son to WDW during the week of Thanksgiving and was wondering if the parks are very crowded that week and if anything special will be going on! Also, has it been warm enough in the past during that week to wear shorts or do i need to bring winter clothes? Any input will be most helpful, thanks!

Re: WDW during Thanksgiving week?

Yes, the parks are crowded. Anytime kids are off school, you can bet that Disney will be crowded. We did Thanksgiving there in 2006 and even though it was crowded we still had a great time. Many, if not all, of the restaurants have some sort of Thanksgiving Feast that they offer. Since it was a last minute trip, we were only able to get in to the Dinner at the Dolphin. It was great and there were characters!! They didn't come to the table, but you were able to wait in a short line for them. The weather is usually on the cooler side so bring some layers. We are floridians so I love the cold. It puts me in the holiday spirit!! All of the parks and resorts are so nicely decorated- make sure you stop by the Grand Floridian!! It's beautiful!! You will have a great time. If you need a place to eat for Thanksgiving Day- hurry up and book it so you can have a choice!!
Enjoy!

Re: WDW during Thanksgiving week?

We've been twice, and think it's a great time to go. Not Christmas-crowded, but pretty crowded Wed. - Sat. Park and resorts are decorated for Christmas, and lots of Christmas stuff going on then - MVMCP, Candlelight Processional, Osborne lights, Christmas parades, etc. Weather varies, and clothing depends on the individual. Most days, highs were mid-70's to lower 80's, def. shorts weather for me. Did Blizzard Beach on an upper 70's day, and it was comfortable after 11 a.m. A couple days didn't reach 70, and jeans worked then. Lows were usually upper 50's lower 60's, but had 1 night in the upper 40's. So bring coats or sweatshirts, and layer clothing for the cooler night-times.

Re: WDW during Thanksgiving week?

We did Thanksgiving last year and we are looking forward to doing it again in 2009. It was busy, but not nearly busy as Spring Break week.

Weatherwise - it will be variable. There were a few HOT days, and some on the chilly side. You will have to check the forecast before you all head out.

Most of th Christmas decorations will be up, but it didn't really seem like Christmas until after Thanksgiving Day. That is when you really started to hear the Christmas music and things were getting the final touches.

We loved the Thanksgiving trip.

Re: WDW during Thanksgiving week?

It's a busy time. There is also the Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party during that time as well.

We were there last year the Saturday thru Wednesday before T-Giving, and yes, the parks are crowded. We have never experienced it so full (sorry) Being a Jersey boy, the weather and pools were perfect for us. I would bring a jacket, nights were cool for some.

Re: WDW during Thanksgiving week?

I've never been, but we're going this year! I can't wait! We arrive the Friday BEFORE Thanksgiving and leave the Saturday after.

If you're thinking of eating Thanksgiving at a sit down place, I'd call now and see what's left. On another board, MANY people couldn't get what they wanted. And FORGET about LTT!

The parks were a little crowded, but not nearly as bad as they can get! And definitely bring some long pants and sweaters, it can get chilly at night and in the mornings. When we went it was about 50 degrees the first two days but then it was like 85-ish the whole other eight days!

Hope that helps!

Re: WDW during Thanksgiving week?

When I went Thanksgiving week we ate at Wolfgang's for Thanksgiving Dinner, and although it burnt a hole in our pockets, it was amamamamamzing!

Also, Christmas decorations are to die for! You can see MVMCP!
