Having a package deal, buying a single ticket

We leave for WDW in 8 days , and just found out my MIL (a FL resident) can drive down and spend one day with us. She won't be staying overnight so we don't have to worry about resort reservations, but I've never bought single tickets before, always a package.

Is this something we can do at the resort when we check in, or is it best to do it in advance? I know FL residents get a lower rate, but we're paying for her ticket.

Thx!

Does she have AAA? That is the best place to buy tickets. She will get a FL Resident rate. You can purchase them at Disney for FL Resident also. Not sure how much the rate is for a single ticket. I know that a Fl Resident can purchase 4 day pass for 155.00. https://www.aaasouth.com/acs_pages/t...20,1021,1022,1

You can purchase a single day ticket at your resort.

Tickets can be purchased at:

Any ticket booth at a major WDW park (water park, Pleasure Island, Wide World of Sports, Cirque and DisneyQuest tickets not available here)
Any ticket vending machine located at some parks, water parks and some Disney Resorts
Any Lobby Concierge desk at a Disney Resort Hotel or park. NOTE: Resort locations do not sell AP's.
Most U.S. Disney Stores (do not carry all tickets)
Online at Walt Disney World Resort - Detecting Browser Properties . . . - If you choose to have them mailed to your home, a $3.00 shipping charge per order is added. If you choose the Will Call option, there is no charge
By calling 1-407-W-DISNEY ($3.00 shipping charge per order added)
*at Disney's EarPort at Orlando International Airport

Ah, good info. She is not an AAA member.

If we wait until we get to the resort to buy her a ticket to the park/parks, will she be allowed to drive in to the resort to meet us, or does the guard stop her?

She won't be staying with us, but it would be nice if she could meet us there for ease of logistics, etc.

When you check into your resort, they will give you a pass to put in your car dash to prove you are an actual paying guest. Not really certain if they check to see who has this or not.

Yes we got the pass for our car last time, but I'm talking about my MIL who will be meeting us in Orlando in her own car. Can she get past a gate guard by saying "I'm meeting my son and family", or do they need proof like tickets or something?

Re: Having a package deal, buying a single ticket

I've had friends come to visit us while staying at the Contemporary, Beach, Yacht, and Wilderness and they were never really challenged at the guardhouse. They'd simply say they were coming to visit us, and I guess the guard found our name on the current guest list and just allowed them to park.
And let me tell you, if there were any resort where they would be strict about even letting you into the parking lot, it's going to be the Contemporary because it is walking distance to the MK and people don't want to pay $10 to park in the TTC.
They do ask every car driving in to show either a room key or picture ID.
