Which Water Park?

Having spent the last two Thanksgiving Holidays in WDW, we are visiting Universal Studios next month. Since it will be July and HOT HOT HOT, we are planning to visit a water park. But, I can't decide on which one to choose from. I haven't been to any of them in all my trips to WDW due to not enough time in our schedule. Maybe y'all can help me decide. I've done some checking on the internet and it seems like Wet n Wild has more attractions, but you know, I'd like to throw a little Disney into our trip. Soooo, I can't decide between Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon. The snorkling looks like fun at Typhoon Lagoon, but I just can't decide. I'm interested in what others think in comparison of WetnWild and the two Disney water parks. Thanks so much

Jane

After a hot day in the parks we hit TL at around 5pm! Put me in a tube floating slowly around the park through the mist and grottos and thats HEAVEN!!

I have been to all 3 water parks. For wild rides I would go to Wet n Wild, however the atmosphere there is stricktly concrete. My favorite is Typhoon Lagoon. It is beautiful and has the snorkling which is something really different. I saw on the Travel Channel that BB was the 2 best water park in the US but I was very disappointed in it when we went. It had not been open very long then so maybe it has improved. My vote is Typhoon Lagoon!!

I saw the Travel Channel thing too. I think that BB rated so high because it has the tallest/fastest waterslide around.

Still don't think that is the deciding factor for us since we travel with our 2 yo DS.

Any opinions on which is better for small children?

I like both TL and BB, BUT......with smaller kids I DEFINITELY like Blizzard Beach better. The kids area is awesome and there are more "family rides" where more than one person can can sit in a tube for the waterslides. FUN!!!!!

My vote is for TL. I love the atmosphere-it is so relaxing and there is also a lot to do. My DF likes Blizzard beach because the slides there are a little more daring. I guess I didn't help much but, what can I say I LOVE it ALL!! You will have fun at either park! Can't help you with Wet 'n Wild-we have never visited.

Have a great time!
Dawn

TL has more shade....and of course the surf pool. I've never been to BB, and we have a 5 and 7 yr old, but we've chosen TL if we can only hit one this trip.

We have not been to Wet 'n Wild but have been to both TL and BB. TL is neat (the wave pool is awesome). However BB would get my vote and my kids (ages 7 and 8). They have so many slides for different ages that the kids just get to spend all their energy.

Both TL and BB are great but if I had to choose, BB wins!:D

Yeah, that's too bad. According to the Travel Channel, River Country was the first ever water park in the U.S. It's a shame to see it closed, but I would bet that Disney has something awesome up its sleeve for it in the future.

Well, it seems like its a split between BB and TL. Decisions, decisions . . .

Maybe we should just take a water park vacation in July and we would JUST have to go back in the fall to visit the theme parks when it's cooler. ;)

Well, I've been to both and prefer BB over TL because it seemed like there were more slides there. Have you visited the Disney website which tells you what all the slides at each park are?? That might help you decide better. You could compare thrill v. swimming v. floating rides to see which park has the best mix you like.

I personally am not about to go rushing back to Wet 'n Wild as I had a bad experience there as a kid right after the place had opened. The whatever-cast-members-at-non-Disney-parks-are-called did not understand the concept of crowd control. They let too many people on a tube ride. TOO many so that everyone got stopped in a traffic jam at a little pool just after a little water fall. I fell through the center of the inner tube and couldn't get back up as it was bumper to bumper tubes so my innertube wouldn't move out of the way. Thankfully there was a life guard at this landing who lifted my tube and I didn't drown. :) But I've been wary of water parks ever since. Disney seems to hire life guards who actually pay attention to when you should and should not start off down a slide. Plus the themeing of the Disney parks is GREAT! You don't climb hight trecherous staircases (did I mention I was acrophobic too? :) ), but hike up steps cut into mountain sides.

I do agree about the Disney Waterpark lifeguards. I found them very attentive and concerned with safety first. Some people might find this annoying but I thought it was just dandy.:D
