How to plan for attraction openings

It looks like we will be able to experience two brand new adventures when we are at Disney in late October, Mission Space and Mickey's Philharmonic.

I would like to request advice on how to handle the crowds and new attractions? I assume that these will be very popular spots, that Fastpass will be gone early and that lines will be long.

Is it worth it to wait for a brand new attraction and possibly miss out on other attractions because of the crowds involved with new rides? Is it go at all costs or avoid at all costs?

Any idea on height restrictions with Mission Space?

Will there be special collectibles in the parks commemorating the recent openings?

Thanks!

Judging from all the rumor and innuendo I've heard and read here in Orlando, Mission: Space will be a ride you won't want to miss.

It's supposed to be totally unlike anything Disney has done before. The technology involved is rumored to employ the use of modified centrifuges, those spinning capsules that NASA uses to create artificial G-forces while training astronauts. The attraction also is supposed to give riders a simulated feeling of momentary weightlessness, which some speculate may be achieved by bringing the capsule to an abrupt halt.

I saw the attraction's passenger cars in the construction stage during a Backstage Tour in January. From what little I could see, they looked pretty neat. Each car supposedly has a capacity of only four riders.

I'd definitely make plans to ride it while you're at WDW.

I have heard it will have a soft opening on the 15 of august .. this is our last day at WDW. So I have been wondering ..should we or shouldnt we go to epcot that day and see .. I remember test track and how it was down so much the first year it open ... come to think of it ..it was down alot last year when we were there :hmmm .. any way .. I already know that Mission:Space is going to be something DH wont be able to do..and I wonder if it would be best to just forget about it till next year .. or can I stand to miss out on the chance to ride it first if it actually opens .. *sigh* just cant decide

If you're there at WDW, it seems a shame not to try to ride it. Perhaps you could plan your last day around going to Epcot, so that way you wouldn't have to make a special trip just to see if Mission: Space was operating?
