Height Restrictions on rides at MK

Is there anywhere to check our son against the required height for certain rides. He is wanting to go on Splash Mountain and BTMRR, but he is right at 40 inches tall. We want to check him prior to rides to save a BIG fit from him:devil

Splash M & BTMRR is 40"

Space M is 44"

Edit...Oh...now that I read your question again I understand. I think there is a gage at the ride entrance. I think they stamp the childs hand so they don't have to be measured again....or is that at Kings Island?

A trick I have done is to have your son wear the thickest shoes he owns.

Thanks rlander. We have been measuring all of his shoes for that reason:laugh We have considered putting high heels on him.LOL:laugh

We are trying to get used to taking kids to WDW since we have never had to worry about such things.

Now, you may spot me if you see the man having trouble walking and he is trying to handle a screaming child at Splash Mountain or BTMRR who was too small to ride.

Go to Payless, they have very thick soled shoes, you can add a quick inch or so!

I, being only 58 inches tall, and am probably done growing, have had problems in the past boarding rides that had height requirements because of my shortness. It sort of helps id the child is not dressed like he is in kindergarden, and also, as recommended before, thick soled shoes. If his hair is long enough, spike it, it gives him the appearence of being taller and older.

At first it started very small as most dreams do.
A twinkle in an eye, the thrill of something new.
But then the dream began to grow and come alive.
Touching every one of us, lighting up the sky.
We share a magic day, we share enchanted nights
It's a neverending story and together we all find
It's been a part of me, it's been a part of you.
A part of growing up together
Sharing a dream come true.

Idea I got from the Unofficial Guide for my DGd. I went and bought her big chunky platform sandals. She fit under the height pole at SM perfectly. Soon as we could we took them back off. (Didn't want her to fall and break her ankle!) With a boy I think the book said maybe cowboy boots. She loved the ride, she had just turned 6. I can remember many years ago my 20 year old daughter rode SM when she was 3-there were no restrictions.

Mr. Disney Fan is right, we did the chuncky shoes for both our kids, got them at payless shoes. For our son, we bought PLAIN WHITE chunky shoes, which were officially girl shoes, but he didn't know, and didn't care!

Good Luck! We couldn't get DD into any 40" ride this time, thankfully Kali River Rapids is a 38" ride, as she was so excited! She is 38 1/2 inches tall, and to try and get her on the 40" rides, we bought chunky shoes at Payless, and pulled her hair on top of her head into a pony tale, and they still wouldn't let her do it. She was prepared in advance that she might not get to ride it, and when they told her "no", she said, "let's go ride something else!!" I was so proud of her:love:

My daughter measured 44 1/2" at home with her thick, "Payless" shoes. When we got to Space Mountain, she came up about 1/8 of an inch short (gravity must work harder in Florida). The guy measuring was unrelenting and wouldn't let her on (I can't say I blame him.)

My wife happened to be getting her monthly visit, so in MacGyver like fashion, we took an extra "pad", cut it in two, doubled each piece over, and slipped them under the inner soles of her shoes.

The next day, our first stop was Space Mountain. Our "Stayfree Solution" got her the extra height she needed and we couldn't wipe the smile off her face the rest of the day!!!

Go to www.pscalculator.com there is an application for height requirements in the toolbox.

Wow! I wish we had been with boos_parents! Our grandson was about 1/16 inch too short for Space Mountain! They could have saved the day. Yes, the cm was unrelenting. And I understand why. BUT . . . the crying that ensued was traumatic for me and my grandson. Fortunately, my husband took him to ride Buzz Lightyear while the rest of the group rode Space Mountain. I wish I had gone with them!

Talk about creative people -- bet you had a great trip! Love your attitude!:) :laugh :)
