Re: Mr. Toad's Wild Ride
I really miss the Mr. Toad ride at WDW. It was alot of fun. I think DT is right that the Pooh's track is the same as the Mr. Toad. I'm glad that it still exists at DL.

I think she made it so fun for us. I do remember being kind of scared when I thought we were going to crash into a wall. ![]()

Re: Mr. Toad's Wild Ride
The main reason for switching it to Pooh was money. The Winnie the Pooh store is one of the top sellers of any ride based store. Once they saw how much money it was making, they added the play area for the little ones as well. Pooh is so popular for so many kids and families, that it was just a natural fit for it to take the place of Mr. Toad's Wild Ride. I liked Mr. Toad's better, but, it really wasn't the best ride for little ones. They tamed Snow White's Scary Ride and added Pooh. And that part of the park remains extremely busy because of it.

Re: Mr. Toad's Wild Ride
We loved Mr. Toad - he was a wild and crazy guy! But we love the Winnie the Pooh ride too. The track is exactly the same. Where Pooh goes through the "Hefflelumps and Woozles sequence, was where Mr. Toad went down to H E L L. We always pay our respects to the toad by finding the picture of him handing over the deed.

Re: Mr. Toad's Wild Ride
When it comes to the Pooh ride, even my kids will only ride it if there isn't a line. It definitely isn't on the list of must do rides.

Re: Mr. Toad's Wild Ride
I rode it when I was a kid and it was a lot of fun. If I remember correctly it was pretty dark inside and the car moved and jerked kinda quick. Glad I had a chance to ride it.

Re: Mr. Toad's Wild Ride
So let me get this straight, on the Winnie the Pooh ride, there is a picture of Mr. Toad handing Owl the deed? Disney is awesome...just awesome. Don't remember ever riding Mr. Toad's ride...

Re: Mr. Toad's Wild Ride
I remember Mr. Toad faintly. I did like it though. I think switching it to Pooh was a smart move, besides, can you imagine them throwing you out of the ride into a Mr. Toad gift shop? Umm no.
Here's a link that shows the picture of the deed being handed over Mr. Toad's Wild Ride At WDW in the Town Square Exposition Hall, where the theatre is, there is a car from Mr. Toad's Wild ride hidden behind a curtain. I believe it is to the left if you are looking that the movie screen, but don't quote me on that.

Re: Mr. Toad's Wild Ride
I think it's cool from an historical perspective, but the ride was just a cute kid's ride.

Re: Mr. Toad's Wild Ride
Today marks the 10th anniversary of the closure of Mr. Toad's Wild Ride. Here are two very well written articles which provide thorough insight into the ride's history, design, and legacy. Highly, highly recommended for anyone remotely interested in Mr. Toad:

Re: Mr. Toad's Wild Ride
I remember Mr Toad's Wild Ride quite clearly actually. There was one scene where you circled around the town and then in another scene you drove into the train followed, of course, by the visit to heck.
I think in today's climate of politically correctness, getting rid of Mr. Toad was a good move on Disney's part. I don't think a trip to the Devil's lair is really appropriate for any children's ride. ![]()

Re: Mr. Toad's Wild Ride
One of my favorite rides! I do agree that it needed updating - not to be replaced. I remember the last day, it was CMs (not in costumes of course!) as far as the eye could see. We all wanted to ride it one more time.
I have done the Pooh ride once and that was enough - I am not a Pooh person at all. I did read a review of the Tokyo Pooh ride and it sounds awesome. |
