Taking coolers in park?

Saw on here sometime back about taking small collapsible coolers into the parks. I know they don't allow food, but can you take some drinks in with you?

You can bring food and drink into the parks. They do not prohibit either. They do a security check at the gates, not a check for food or drinks. The only thing they MAY prohibit in the MK is alcohol.:)

Bama family- We have been to WDW about 5 times. Everytime i have either taken a backpack with water bottles and snacks or i have taken a small cooler with fruit drinks, water, applesause, pudding, P&B sand, chips. They do look in your cooler and at first i was a little nervous about taking the cooler. But they are looking for weapons not food. And believe me you will spend money in the park whether it is for food, a drink, popcorn, fruit or a shirt or hat. They know if you spend a couple of hours there you will end up buying something. Same goes for Universal. Hope it helps. We also took wash cloths and kept them in the cooler to wipe our faces and arms off during the line waiting. It was very refreshing.

Hey BamaFamily... I have brought things like water, baby bottles, fruit snacks and apples in a cooler and security never gave it a second thought. I don't know that I would pack a four course meal or anything, but I don't think they will say anything to you.

And a Happy Belated Birthday...

We have never had a problem with bringing food into the park. Not saying we bring a full lunch or anything, but water and snacks. We also have not had a problem doing this at Busch Gardens either. And of course we still always spend money :p

Good tip about the wash clothes, Leigh, I will remember that one :)

We never had any problems bring food or drinks into the parks at all. They will search ALL of your bags, but they won't stop you from entering the parks with a cooler...you should be totally fine!!! ;) ;) ;)

I always have a cooler when I go in the parks because I keep my cam-corder in a soft cooler ..but we have also taken food in .. and water. We have taken drinks from the resort on to the bus and into the parks .. also food, like apples and cereal bars and such. Several years ago we bought these huge cups with lids and those plastic flex straws .. (still have them all too) 3 said WDW because we bought them in the parks ..one said CBR because we bought it at the resort. any way we carried them in with us ..full of coke and / or water.. in fact thinking of packing those for this year .. naa on second thought they were hard to keep up with.

There are no signs anywhere that I remember saying that food and drink may not be brought into the parks.

Okay...silly question...I think.:o Isn't it an inconvience to lug a cooler around the parks? We just bought an expandable cooler on wheels. I mainly bought it for the room , to keep milk, juice and water cool. Any tips on bringing it into the parks??? Keep in mind I have three children under 5...so we may already have two strollers and a lot of other "stuff". Thank you!

mmmmmmmm

i understand your point about having enough stuff to push or lug around. A small lunch size cooler to hang from your stroller handle could hold enough capri suns, water bottles or other juice drinks to have on hand so you don't have to spend $40 on drinks a day. I have 2 children (age 11 & 13) and it seemed like everytime i turned around they were thirsty. It seemed like a lot of trouble to lug around a cooler until we were going to watch a show. We got into the show a little early and enjoyed P&B sandwhiches and capri sun drinks. Everyone was satisfied until later and we did not have to take time out to stop and eat. It worked for my family. This year when we went to Universal studios I took Rice krispie treats, applesause singles (previously frozen), capri suns, water & fruit roll ups. We bought apples from the little carts. And popcorn later in the day. My kids were so excited to eat the cool treats that i brought. I was so proud of myself when children there were asking their parents "Mom I want some applesause like that girl has". Worth every sore muscle in my arm that day.

Mickaholic - the signs are at the ticket counters, and in their park rules guides.

Coolers - have you seen the insulated 'freezer bags?' I use one with snacks and drinks and stuff it into my backpack on days I'm packing lunches. Get to carry it on my back and don't worry about bumping it on the back of the stroller. If DD's running about, then backpack goes in stroller. Just a thoguht...
