wheelchair

:) We are planning a vacation in late may for six days..With my wife having a bad knee, there is the possibility of having to use a wheelchair. My question is this....are wheelchairs available and if so, where do we get them and how much, if anything, do they cost to rent...Thanks for any information:D

There are wheelchairs(and strollers) available just inside the front gates of each of the parks, where the lockers are. I'm not sure of the cost, or if they're available at the resorts. Hope this helps, and welcome to the boards.:) :)

markarja, if your staying at a WDW resort check at the resort .. its my understanding you can get a wheel chair at the resort that you can use for your full stay .. I think the wheel chair cost is $6..( at the parks) you can do the same with the wheel chairs that you can with the strollers ..meaning if your changing parks during the same day ( i.e. going from MGM to Epcot) ..you can get another wheel chair with out paying again. But really check with your resort it might be better to get one there for use during your stay

When we went to Disney in October, we stayed at the Disney Institute (sniff, sniff) and the day we checked in we requested a wheelchair be brought to our room (my mom is legally blind). We got to use that wheelchair for free the entire stay and took it to and from the parks. So, I recommend that if you are staying at a Disney resort to request a wheelchair so that you don't have to rent one at the parks.

In December we stayed off property but I found a wheelchair rental company that had free delivery and pickup. When we arrived at our hotel, the wheelchair was waiting and we just left it at the front desk the day we left. The inital cost was $25.00 with $5.00 each day thereafter. It was a godsend for only $35.00 (no tax)! I can give you the name of the company or you can use Yahoo! search for Kissimee wheelchair rentals.
that should help you out
