Stroller Rental @ WDW

Is is me or did the price of stroller rentals go crazy? I seem to remember it being <$20 to rent a double stroller just 2 years ago (my memory is not always the best, but I think I would have remembered paying $31 for a double)

Do they now come with a cast member to push your children through the park?Or are they self propelled?

Thank goodness my kids are big enough to walk the parks.

You're not crazy, it's nuts. I would bring my stroller from home, no way would I pay that for an 8-10 day trip.

Re: Stroller Rental @ WDW

I remember the 1st time we brought our DD to wdw, she was 21 months old. We brought our own stroller and thought we would just have a look at the cost of renting for our next trip. We were amazed even then how much it was. Now, that was a few years ago now and prob $20 or so would be a bargain for some of you guys for a stroller rental for a short trip but when we come for a 2 weeks stay that 'bargain' turns into a huge expense. We have therefore, always brought our own umbrella stroller. Not to forget either that having our own means it's more comfortable for our DD, and we can use it all the way to and from the buses and around all areas of WDW and such.

Re: Stroller Rental @ WDW

This is the first trip that we're bringing our own stroller too, because the prices are just too insane! I can't even imagine paying that much for a double stroller rental. You could buy a new Maclaren for as much as it would cost to rent the stroller for 8 days!

That is insane! My kids haven't used stroller for about 5 years and there is no way would have paid more than $20 for a double stroller at that time and over $30 is just ridiculous!

Re: Stroller Rental @ WDW

I'm sure since they raised ticket prices they have raised the price of other things. Things are getting soooo expensive but WDW is sooooooo worth it!

We always bring our own stroller. Just for the
simple fact that if ds wants to sleep he is comfy
in his own stroller rather than a hard plastic one.
The price is highway robbery.

we do the same for the same reasons.

i was looking at a thread on another board about strollers, and how people accessorize them. it inspired me work on modifying our stroller to better accommodate our growing girl.

i added an extended pillow headrest and a new footrest (the old one broke off last year from her using it to get in & out on).

i also love having the basket underneath that our stroller has, the park ones don't have any storage room.

i dread the days of her being too big for the stroller...i love having it to use to carry our extra stuff in.

Re: Stroller Rental @ WDW

OMG!!!!!!! I think I looked in to a weekly rental last time ( May 07') and it was $121 ! I could be mistaken, but $31/day is absurd! I am sorry but in this economy, even Disney needs to take a step back and be grateful people still need an escape! They have already paid for those strollers millions of times over! I could see if they had to go up on ticket prices to pay for the gas on the buses/boats, on food, it too, is astronomical, or even for the elctricity to power the rides, but strollers, come on! ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! I am definaetly bringing our double stroller from home, even if I have to pay for it as extra baggage on our flight, $50 for the whole 10 days is worth it!

Excuse the rant...

Re: Stroller Rental @ WDW

We're leaving in 26 days, our 4yr old DD's 1st trip and our 8yr old DS's 2nd trip. I was thinking of renting a double stroller, just in case the 8yr old needed a rest but at these prices - no way. Do you think I should still bring a stroller for my DD? She just turned 4 and I'm afraid all the walking may be too much. Does this count a checked bag on Delta??

Re: Stroller Rental @ WDW

I would think that Disney would keep the strollers reasonably priced to keep people from taking their own so much. They take up room on the buses and this makes it harder during the busy times. But, with prices like that, I would never rent one. I would be lugging my own too. Guess I'll be more sympathetic this trip when I see a family carrying a stroller.

I would bring my own. I too considered renting a double because DD5 just can't keep up and DD7 sometimes too could use a little break but not at those prices. I don't even have a stroller anymore DD5 has not been in a stroller since she was 3 because she is just too tall and always wanted to walk every where anyway. So why does she need one in WDW? She can have one if she decides to use her Disney Dollars for it

DEfinately bring a stroller for DD. She will not make it and you will end up carrying her more than not. That's a lot of walking for those little legs. I am not sure if it counts as a checked bag on delta. You should check their website to be certain. ARe you using Magical express, renting or using a car service? IF you are not using ME, you have the option to do a grocery stop..you could always pick up an umbrella stroller for about $20 or so and toss it when you are done. $20 is cheaper than the rental prices at WDW.
