I also wish your friend a speedy recovery. I feel awful that things like that happen to people. I hope that it didn't ruin her whole view of Disney. I am glad you shared your story with us.

I just had a picture of Adam Sandler during an SNL newscast before Halloween when he was talking about costumes and said things like "I'm a unicorn, now give me some candy".
They could have given them each $25 worth of Disney dollars, but after paying for new, dry clothes, I guess it would have been kind of redundant.

That is so terrible what happened to your friend. I think WDW did handle it well but they could have done a bit more like free dinner, park tickets for the day that was lost! I am glad that her DD was okay! I hope she does go back to WDW!!

That is just aweful! I can't imagine what that night must have been like - not only for your friend, but her two DDs. I do hope that this doesn't mean they won't be back to Disney!
My DH and I just had a conversation a few weeks ago about people getting hurt at WDW. It seems that there have to be accidents, but we never hear about them. Now that I have, I hope your friend gets better soon!

I'm with Dopey and Dana on what my post was saying. In no way possible would I post to upset anyone. I hate the feeling that this must have given you and I truly apologize if my post upset you.
I didn't understand the extent of these injuries. Knowing what you have shared about not working, diductables and stuff, I woud contact Disney and let them know the situation and give them a chance to make it right. Then depending on what they do I would consider a lawyer, if only to discuss what should be done with Disney. I think the world has become very sue (did I spell that right) happy and just knowing a lawyer is involved might be enough to make all parties happy.
Along with another post I saw, did she sign any papers?
I honestly think it is awful that your friends vacation was spent this way and will pray for a speedy recovery and that she is able to get back to work.

In your intitial post you specifically stated that she should be given a free trip and asked what we thought. Comments made by many people were based off that. I do feel badly for them and do have sympathy, but that isn't what you asked in your post.

Thats really awful! I would have been pretty angry if that ruined my vacation but do realize it wasn't intentional. Thats just a bag of bad luck

My feeling is that this is an accident, plain and simple, and Disney is the one at fault.

Think about it: if you were driving along in your car and someone plowed into you causing you physical injuries, you would expect not only to be reimbursed for your medical expenses and lost wages, but any other incidental expenses that you incurred, PLUS a settlement for the pain that was caused to you.

This is no different. Disney definitely owes this woman a lot more than a promise to pay her expenses and a free night at MNSSHP.

I am extremely NOT litigious, but we do still need lawyers for some instances, and this is one of those times. I'm afraid you cannot depend on the Disney Corporation to "do the right thing".

I know someone who was badly injured at Disney and she did sue Disney. She is still a huge Disney lover and goes several times a year. If your friend is going to suffer long term damage because of this she should definitely get a lawyer.

Accidents happen. Big companies have insurance to cover when things like this happen. I'm sure Disney has a whole dept that deals with injururies and accidents on property. No one should fault your friend for doing what she should do for her health.
