Mission Space Sneak Peek?

I've heard the new Mission: Space at Epcot will be having a sneak-peek on Aug. 15. Is this true? We're supposed to leave WDW Aug. 14, but we're thinking about altering our trip by a day if we can see that new attraction.

Guests are already riding, but it is totally random right now as to when they are letting them in... tends to be late afternoon right now.

In the All Ears news letter this week there was a report on Mission: Space from a CM who rode the ride recently. It seemed really cool, but she did mention that the ride states if you are clausterphobic to be warned of the closeness of the ride pod. Apparently there if very little room in there.

One of the Orlando TV stations had a short item on their Thursday night newscast about Mission: Space. Their story didn't give any new information and they aired a very brief video clip of what was supposed to be the ride in action. The clip was so bad, though, that you really couldn't make heads or tails of it. The stuff on wdwmagic is much better.

My parents took us to WDW in 1971 or 72-just after it opened. The park wasn't even completely finished yet. There was a ride I SO SO wanted to try called Flight to the Moon. I was 11 or 12 years old and had every intention of being an astronaut when I grew up. (Actually, I still plan to...lol)

So I missed Flight to the Moon, and the ride is lost in Disney mist.

Now they have Mission:Space. It opens in August.

And of course, rofl, I am going in July.

I am meant to be earthbound, I suppose....

Strong chance you may get to ride, or at least go into the gift shop and Pavilion side of Space. We'll keep our fingers crossed for you. To Infinity and Beyond!

Well, if the gift shop and pavilion are open, I will definately check them out!

We're planning Epcot on my birthday, so maybe if I wear my birthday pin and look somewhat pathetic?

"What? It's your birthday? Well, of course we'll open Mission:Space up for you!"

Guests are test riding during varying hours and days right now. Problem is being there when they are taking in guests. But I would imagine the closer to official open, the better your odds are.

My cousin's are at Disney right now.... Yesterday (June 12th) they got to ride Mission Space. A CM told them that it was open from 4-6pm, they went, and got to ride it!!!!!! Boy, am i jealous!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My cousin said he got sick, it was pretty intense. After they got off the attraction, they had to answer some questions/survey.

You still can go on a ride close to Flight to the Moon

I have been on Flight to the Moon. It was the basic layout of alien encounter, with the circular theatre with seats all around. You sat and watched a make believe screen as you went to the moon. As you did this your seats morphed. That was it. It was then over. Lamer than Alien Enounter, so you didn't miss a thing. I don't recommend alien encounter, but if you want to get a feel for what Flight to the Moon was like, go on Alien encounter and picture the alien as a view screen. Then it becomes the same ride.
