Icon5 Is MVMCP worth it? What's it "Magic"?

We went last Christmas to WDW. Will be going again next year. Is it worth looking into MVMCP for our group of 10? (Kids ages 9-17) Tell me about your experiences and whether I need to be prepared to leap on it next year. (Or is it only a temporary thing?)

Thanks, in advance!

Re: Is MVMCP worth it? What's it "Magic"?

We did MVMCP last November and it was the most fun. I was not sure if spending yet another $160 or so dollars for the 4 of us to go to the park, when we already have tickets (you know what I mean) But we did it and I am happy about it.

It was a chance for us to see MK at night. We've never had that pleasure before. There's so much going on, they have hot chocolate and cookies all over the place, it snows on Main Street and...and...and. If you can afford it, go for it

Oh jeeze, MVMCP is an absolutley AMAZINGGGG and MAGICAL experience. It's just beautiful. As you walk leave the MVMCP it begins to snow on Main Street and the blast Christmas music! And it brought tears to my eyes! It was so wonderful. They mixed the two most magical things, Disney and Christmas! Also, they give out snacks and Hot Cocoa! It was great! :D

I was 16 when I went there. I would LOVE to go back!

Re: Is MVMCP worth it? What's it "Magic"?

Last year was our first time. We're pretty frugal, but also deemed it "worth it". If you get there at 4:00, you have 8 hours, which is a good amount of time, especially considering most attractions are walk-ons. We did it on our arrival day, and it worked great. Had just enough time to ride ME from the airport, check in to CSR, and bus to MK.

Great parades and fireworks and snacks and atmosphere and shows. Just keep in mind, if you're there a few days before Christmas, the party is not held, but then EVERYTHING becomes available to all guests except the snacks and the low crowds. (and someone can correct that, since I haven't been Christmas week, except for Christmas day back in '81, which I struggle to remember).

This year they are stopping the parties on the 19th and then they will have the Christmas Parade instead of the 3pm parade. This is what a CM told me anyway . . . snow will only be available at HS and not on Main Street.

We are going the week before Xmas . . . I was ALSO told and I'm hoping it's true that the week BEFORE Xmas is quieter but the week AFTER is VERY high crowds.

Still magical none the less . . . you won't regret it!!

Re: Is MVMCP worth it? What's it "Magic"?

I didn't know if it would be worth it when I went with my mom 2 years ago. But we go there at about 4, literally WALKED ON a number of rides, had a lovely character dinner at Liberty Tree, then started enjoying the festivities. The whole thing is just beautiful and if you are lacking the Christmas spirit, this will definitely do it for you!

We saw almost all of the stage shows last time, but this year we will probably skip out. They were really cute and fun, but this time we figure "why watch them again when we can just walk on more rides??"

Everyone is right, the snow on Main Street is lovely. The parade was lovely. The fireworks were lovely. And you get to see characters they don't normally have out!

Even my frugal-fanny, not-so-hardcore-for-disney mother said "We have to do this again!!"

On the flip side, if you're already planning to do MK during your trip, you may or may not get sick of it, yknow?

Have we convinced you yet?

Re: Is MVMCP worth it? What's it "Magic"?

Heck yes it's worth it!!

You hardly have to wait long for the rides (seriously, the Splash Mountain wait for me was like 5 minutes compared to the regular 90 mins!!), the parade, shows, and fireworks are awesome, and you get FREE cocoa and cookies!!!!

I had the awesome experience to actually work at the party (serving cocoa and cookies in Fantasyland at Ariel's Grotto) and it was the most fun I have ever had. At the Grotto there was a dance floor where the characters got to dance with the kiddies. The cast members I worked with danced to the music while serving cookies and cocoa. We even did the YMCA!! It was great!!

Just the best night in Disney ever

you must do this if your into Disney, plan your night to mack the most of your time.

parade shows fireworks and Christmas characters not forgetting photos with Santa

we had a locker to put all our stuff in and when it came to time to start the party we all put our Christmas hats and scarfs on tinsel as well we just had a fantastic night

Re: Is MVMCP worth it? What's it "Magic"?

OK, ok, ok...I'm thinking I need to look into MVMCP. Thanks for sharing. Hearing about the cocoa, music, snow on Main Street (AND walk on rides) was enough to sell me on it. My entire family went ga-ga over the snow and music at HS last year. (and we're from Michigan!!!)

Another quick question, someone mentioned it stopping or changing the week of Christmas. We will be checking only 5 days before Christmas. When do the festivities change over or stop?

It's a definite thing to do if you can afford the additional cost. We loved the parade and with less crowds you get to get on more rides without waiting long or at all

You may have missed Mickeysgirlz previous post above (#5). Or maybe I'm misunderstanding the question? The last MVMCP this year is Dec. 19, and the Christmas parade replaces the regular 3 p.m. parade beginning the next day. Also confirmed on the Disney calendar.

Re: Is MVMCP worth it? What's it "Magic"?

Yeah, I did. I had misread it. So, the festivities for MVMCP do end before Christmas week. (Which is when we'll be there.) Too bad. I will add it to my list of must dos for another trip.

I'm still glad we'll be there for New Year's eve though. We went last year and had a great time. It was probably the one time I didn't mind be herded through crowds. Everyone was delightful, merry and the fireworks were unbelievable.

Thanks again.

I enjoy MNSSHP better so when we go we tend not to go to MVMCP
