Park Hopping II

Ok so I know I just posted about Park Hopping. However, I didn't really make myself clear. We have AP's. I haven't ever Park Hopped. So my question is.... Say for instance that we are at MK and decide to hop over to Epcot, do we use the Monorail or bus? I would like to know what my options are? Or if we are at AK and decide to go to DHS what are the options? Is there boat transportation to any of the other parks? Should we only use the bus system? Any help on the whole transportation would be greatly appreciated. I remember reading about someone saying there is transportation behind Canada and Morroco?

Re: Park Hopping II

The only way to get from Epcot to MK is by monorail (change trains at TTC). Same goes for all three monorail resorts. Sure you could take the ferry across Seven Seas Lagoon, but the train is usually faster and more comfortable (air conditioned). You can bus between Epcot and AK, Epcot and DHS, and DHS and AK. All transport between MK and the other parks is monorail to TTC and bus from TTC to park. What I do if I'm hopping to DHS or AK from MK is walk out to the Contemporary bus stop and get a bus to either of those parks. You can also use the Friendships to get from Epcot to DHS, but you could walk faster because they make stops at Yacht/Beach, Boardwalk, and Swan/Dolphin. The Friendships that sail World Showcase Lagoon do not leave Epcot and the boats that sail between Epcot and DHS do not enter World Showcase Lagoon or Epcot proper.

Ok I see your question better new.
I think all your answers regarding Hopping are best answered by MickeyMotto's like posted on original thread. use the link posted there....

I had never seen this before and think it is going to be a big help. Also you can ask at guest relations

Re: Park Hopping II

Transportation Wiz is good, but SG's post is better. Transportation Wiz doesn't take into account walking options, which are sometimes the fastest (like EP --> Y&BC --> DHS. And yes, that is via the "International Gateway" entrance at EP - it's between England and France. That entrance/exit is good, depending on what area of the park you're in and where you're headed. you could also use it to walk to or from Y&BC or BW to use a bus to/from another park.)

Also, a few of the times on Transportation Wiz used to look a little . POFQ to EP or DHS is one I seem to recall. Don't know if they've updated that or not.

Re: Park Hopping II

Thanks Lurk for mentioning the shortfalls of the Transport Wiz.
The Wiz is very good, but some of their connections are really strange and like you said, they don't take into account walking options, like using the Contemporary or the Crescent Lake resorts.
I hate the idea of transferring through a park or DTD ifI don't need to.
When it comes to interpark buses, I have found that using the DHS to Epcot bus is faster than the Friendship almost every single time and if you're staying at the Boardwalk, you will be able to walk to DHS faster even if the boat is at the Boardwalk right when you are.

Re: Park Hopping II

You can also take a boat or walk from Epcot. You exit out the International gateway (between the United Kingdom and France. There is dock right there.

They also have a pathway that starts next to the Boardwalk Inn and ends at the Disney Studios.

I don't think so, however, considering I've tried to get almost everywhere from everywhere in WDW and gotten jammed enough times that I've been forced to take a taxi, I'm very knowledgeable when it comes to Disney Transport in all it's forms.
I've also found the transport wiz makes mistakes and sometimes offers bad options.

OK cool. one other thing what is the "Friendship"? I have never heard of this.

The biggest problem that I have with Disney transport is getting from resort to resort for dinning

Actually.....the Transportation Wizard DOES take into consideration the walking options. So they must have updated since you last visited.

I have always found it very helpful when planning how to travel around the World. At times it does appear that some options are a bit ....but that is when I come to seek advice from the rest of you experts.

But IMHO, I think the TW is a great place to start your planning.

You're right. My bad. But it seems like it only includes those for direct connections from one place to another, never as a transfer option. Example: We have done morning emh at AK and hopped a few hour later to EP. There aren't too many people leaving AK at 10:00 or 10:30 a.m., so buses aren't lined up at that time. Epcot resort bus came first, and we kind of preferred to begin at Intn'l Gateway anyway, so we took that bus, got off at the first stop, and walked the 5 minutes to IG. Not sure I'd have figured that option out from Transportation Wiz.

Also, it doesn't state the time for the walk from Epcot to DHS.

Just a couple areas for improvement.

Agree completely. It's a great place to start. But if there's a contradiction between it and the experts here, I'll rely on Mousebuzz experts. And I think you're saying the same thing.

It is exactly what I am saying! I agree that TW doesn't give every option possible, like the one you posed for example. Those are some of the best things about being an MBer. You can find out all the special "secret" tips from the folks here!

Now, if I could only get TW and all of you experts to help me find the quickest way around the Pittsburgh construction areas....

The Friendships are the long low enclosed boats that sail from Epcot to DHS and stop at the three Crescent Lake resort docks along the way. They also have Friendships that sail from the top of World Showcase Lagoon to Morocco and Germany. All of these boats look somewhat like Amsterdam canal boats or perhaps Parisienne Seine barges. They are named Friendship I through Friendship VIII (I'm not certain if there is a Friendship IX).

The biggest problem everyone has with Disney Transport is getting from one hotel to another. That is something that is almost impossible without changing buses somewhere along the line. Getting from parks to DTD gives guests the same problem. As they say in Maine; "You can't get there from here". It's these issues that have led me to learn the Disney Transport system inside out and backwards just to prevent problems.

And after all that, sometimes you're still better off taking a taxi.

We're going to wind up taking a taxi back to WL after our dinner at Flying Fish next Wednesday because all parks will be closed and a taxi is much less painful than transferring through DTD. I considered bringing the car over and doing valet parking, but that winds up being 4-$2 tips (in and out at both WL and Boardwalk) or $8 total and the taxi will only run about $20 with the tip, so why bother wasting the extra time?
