Today I was on All ears and read abou this information. Where have I been? I had no idea.
Fantasmic! will indeed be cut back to two performances per week, on Mondays and Thursdays, beginning in early January 2009. No one knows if this is a permanent change, or if it is just during the slower season right after the holidays.

IllumiNations will be performed in an abbreviated version during a planned refurbishment of the Earth Barge. Currently, the barge is scheduled to be out of the show for approximately four to six weeks beginning in mid-August. That said, it has been scheduled for rehab a few times before and the rehabs have been cancelled for various reasons. We'll have to wait and see what actually happens. During the planned rehab, IllumiNations is scheduled to be performed every night as usual.

SpectroMagic will not be performed between August 15 and 29 while the Liberty Square bridge is repaired. Instead, there will be two daily performances of the Dreams Come True Parade, at 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., performed on an abbreviated route up Main Street, around the Hub and back down Main Street. SpectroMagic is scheduled to return to a nightly performance on August 30 at 9:00 p.m., just in time for Labor Day Weekend. In the past, SpectroMagic has been scheduled for weekends-only during slower seasons, so we'll have to watch the schedule for any updates or changes in the schedule.

Remember, this is what is currently scheduled to happen with these shows and parades, and the schedule could be altered at any time. The best thing to do is to check the weekly Times Guide & New Information sheet handed out in the parks.

Rowdy told us about the bridge . . . I believe it's all fixed now!

Illuminations has no globe right now, so it is out being repaired (I think timkelmom mentioned this in her TR?)

Rowdy also confirmed the Fantasmic rumor (and I believe the boat is out being repaired as well!)

Speaking of the bridge, it should be noted, that the "new" one is in fact a temporary one. No idea when they're going to actually get the real one in. One possibility is when we are transitioning to the brand new MK day parade we are going to get next year. I say brand new when in fact it's a new incarnation of SADCT, much like DDCT is, only it will fit the new celebration like DDCT fit YOMD.

As for the video globe being out, I've been waiting for this for well over a year now. So, I guess I won't see the globe next week, but will in December.
Illuminations without the globe? Every time I think I'm done taping, they drag me back!

We saw Illuminations without the globe on our trip during the last week of August and I actually really enjoyed it. Sometimes a little change is nice. They added a bunch of other fireworks to make up for it.

They'd have to!
I don't know how many of you saw Illuminations during 2005 when the Inferno Barge was out of service, but they didn't add anything to fill in the absence of the flames, so it looked pretty empty.
I guess I'll be finding out for myself in 3 days what this "version" looks like.

I do like Spend it All and Dreams Come True...but the Disney answer is Share a Dream Come True. The parade with all the snow globes. That parade became the current Disney Dreams Come True, and now it'll become something else for 2009.
