New Year's Eve Fireworks and Event info

This just arrived in my email from my travel agent:

*NEW YEARS EVE FIREWORKS AND EVENTS:
Special fireworks shows and entertainment will mark the 2009 New Year at Disney World this year. Times and events listed below:
*
*Disney’s Hollywood Studios™ will host Fantasmic!, You can take advantage of two show times on New Year’s Eve, at 6:30 and 8:30 p.m. In addition, revelers can “rock on” with live performances by in-park band “Mulch, Sweat and Shears,” plus a DJ spinning tunes at Mickey’s Sorcerer’s Hat. A special Lights, Camera, Happy New Year fireworks show will light the night sky at 11:50 p.m. The Park will be open from 9 a.m. until midnight on Dec. 31.
*
*Epcot® will present a special version of IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth will be presented at 7:40 p.m. and 11:50 p.m. For Dec. 31, the Park’s operating hours are 8 a.m. to 1 a.m.
*
*The Magic Kingdom® Park will stay open into the wee hours with parades and fireworks galore! The park will glow with Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade at 12 noon and 3 p.m., followed by the wondrous SpectroMagic parade at 7 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. The Holiday Wishes fireworks display, the boldest and brightest pyrotechnics show at Disney, will take place at 8:30 p.m., and the sky will light up with the grand finale of Fantasy in the Sky fireworks at 11:50 p.m. On Dec. 31, the Park will be open 8 a.m. to 1 a.m.
*
*Disney’s Animal Kingdom® Theme Park will be open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Dec. 31. You can enjoy one of the final presentations of the holiday Character cavalcade of Mickey’s Jingle Jungle Parade at 3:45 p.m., as Mickey and friends add Holiday accessories to their safari costumes and jump and jive to seasonal music.

I'm expensive, but for something like this, I can easily be discounted.

How many people can you sneak into a room at the PC? Maybe I could rent a van and pick folks up on the way down. Who lives on I-95?

Re: New Year's Eve Fireworks and Event info

I think I'm skipping this year.
Hotels are really pricey and I think I'd like to be closer to home this year.
But I could still change my mind.

I live 5 hours from I-95 but you tell me where and what time and I'll be waiting for you to come through to pick me up!

I would love to be at the MK for NYE. I keep trying to talk DH into it, but w/the cost of airfare and rooms, he said No Of course HE just bought a 4-wheeler....

I will be in MK and will NOT be leaving till everything is done and over. I told the kids that I would have to ship them back to the room if they wanted to leave because im afraid to leave and not be able to get back in

I can tell you from personal experience, the last three years in a row, I entered the MK around 8 PM and have had no problems at all getting in.
Many people have left around this time to eat dinner and to simply go back to their hotels. Some have even left for the day, having had their fill of the MK and have other plans for the evening. I'd say you've got a window between 7 PM and 9 PM where you'll be able to get back in, even if they've been at Stage 3 all afternoon. (Stage 3 is where only Disney resort guests and AP holders can get into the park and the TTC parking lot is filled to capacity.)
I wouldn't try getting into MK much later than 9:30 though.
I think Epcot would be more like 10, but if you think you're going to find an unobstructed view of World Showcase Lagoon, think more like 9, unless you're meeting someone.

Re: New Year's Eve Fireworks and Event info

I miss New Year at WDW! We went to Epcot for the day New Year 06/07 and it was MANIC! Ive never seen so many people, even around the World Showcase we could hardly move. We hung around till 7pm (The British New Year) and celebrated in the Uk Pavillion with about every Brit in WDW for a while then headed back to AKL. We'd been up since 6am and couldnt take it anymore. We planned on seeing in the New Year back at the lodge but fell asleep not long before 11pm lol, New Years day was amazing tho, we had MK to ourselves all morning :)

wouldn't it be fun to have a huge party at a fun restaurant that night? I mean a bunch of us -- and then enjoy fireworks after?
