Holiday Inn??

Good Morning-
Has any one stayed at the Holliday Inn outside the gates of WDW
We are looking into staying there. Understand that they are very kid oriented, won awards for best kids theme from the nickelodeon magazine.

Are you talking about Holiday Inn Family Suites? I've never been there, but i have heard good things about them. My sister and her fiance stay there whenever they take trips to Orlando and Pleasure Island! We maybe staying there in October when they go w/her fiances family to stay there and to WDW. She did mention that things were kid friendly, and there were lots of things for kids to do! Sorry I don't have more information, but hopefully someone here will be able to help you!

I stayed at Holiday Inn Main Gate East, but many years ago prior to Disney Hotels opening up. It was fine. But more up to date, I have visited this hotel in 2001 and it was fine.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn-Nikki Bird this past New Years. It was an older hotel but has been well kept. They had kid suites with bunk beds and things but since it was just DH and I we didn't see those. Staff was nice. It is right at the entrance to DW. There are several Holiday Inn's but I do know this one had a special kids thing. If there is not much difference I would rather stay at an All Star on site then there.

Caroline,

My family stayed at the Holiday Inn Nikki Bird last year and were very disappointed. We did not book one of the 'Kids Suites' but our allocated room was so filthy and poorly maintained that we demanded to be moved to a more suitable room. They gave us a 'Kids Suite' (I do have a daughter who was nearly 13 at the time). We accepted the room but to be honest this was not much better. The 'Kids' part of it consists of a 'walled off' area containing a very cramped (for my 13 year old) bunk bed and her own TV/Radio. The rest of the room was the same standard (poor) as the originally allocated one.

The hotel itself is certainly close to WDW and this is an advantage, however I would class the hotel as more of a business commuter hotel as businessmen and women were checking in and out through all hours of the day and night and that mean't all you could hear was the trundling of luggage up and down the corridors! The way the rooms are situated, it seems that all rooms are on the route to reception!!

The hotel staff were not that friendly either, probably beacuse of the business people using the hotel for just one or two night stop-overs, although the breakfast buffet and general cleanliness of the restaurant seemd acceptable.

This is of course my humble opinion, but we as a family are generally not too fussy but this particular hotel stretched my 'fussines' to the limit a bit I'm afraid! :dazed ;)

We stayed at Holiday Inn Family Suites and it was really nice. Huge pool open until midnight every night. Free huge buffet breakfast every day. Rooms are ideal for families as parents get their own room with a door! Also, only about five minute drive from MGM Studios which is the closest park. I recommend it for anyone with kids.
