Last season for Fantasy in the Sky???
The issue of Southern Living magazine delivered to my mailbox yesterday has an article about 4th of July fireworks at Disney. It mentions that this is the last season for FiS, and that it will be replaced with a new show this fall.
I searched the posts but didn't find any threads talking about it. What do you all think about this? The article mentions that FiS has been happening since the park opened. Will they, or can they, replace it with something better? I was so looking forward to the fireworks and kiss goodnight that you all have been posting about. Thanks! |

The current FITS show is not the same as the one that started and is definitely not as good as the version it replaced. They have changed versions of the FITS show over the years. They are working on another version, hopefully similiar to Disneyland's great show, that will debut this fall, presumably for Mickey's 75th birthday.

Fantasy in the Sky will soon be replaced come October 2003. The current working title for the new show is Wishes and will feature narration by Jimminy Crickett as well as a new musical score. There will also be several new launch locations for the fireworks.

You are right Garada3, I am so excited about our October trip. DW is always exciting but I have several new things to look forward to, along with my first time to stay on site.

When we checked in to the Poly on June 15, we received a letter that WDW was testing some new types of fireworks that evening. The parks closed at 8PM. We did not get to see the demonstration because we went to bed at 11:00 so we could get up for early entry into AK. They went off about 11:30. I could hear them but could not see them, but they were very loud. Louder than the normal fireworks. I am guessing that these are part of the new show.

Thanks for all the info... especially the inside scoop! WDWfan23 it is great to have you here at DC. I hope you'll become an active member here and continue to give us lots of great info. I'm so glad we switched to November for our trip. Now on top of going when Mission Space & Mickey's Philharmagic opens we'll get some new fireworks and perhaps some other special celebrations.
