Magic Kingdom Barber Shop On Main Street Usa

Has anyone ever had their childs haircut there? We are going in August and I want to get my son's haircut there...but I want it to be his first haircut! So far, my son is 20 months old and has NEVER had a haircut...although he definitely needs it now! But I want to wait until Magic Kingdom. Is it worth the wait? Has anyone ever had their toddler's FIRST haircut there? I was told they give a Disney Certificate that says something along the lines of MY FIRST HAIRCUT AT WALT DISNEY WORLD...something like that. I think it would be soooo cute if I did this!!! Anyone know anything about this???

Kim...
I have heard alot of people say that they got 1st haircuts at WDW and received a certificate. I hope Nina checks this thread cause I know in her trip report she said she stopped in to have her baby's haircut and the line was long. I'm just not sure if she did it or not.

We went on our trip in May to get hubby's hair cut there. The line was very long and he grew impatient (after about 45 minutes) so we didn't wait. They did a good job on the boy we watched and everyone had alot of fun.

If you do it, make sure to get pix! :)

hey Anne & Kim! No we did not get to get Cade's hair cut at MK, it was just too long of wait with him. He was ready to go. Yes it would have been a 1st hair cut, so we thought that would have been so so cool!!!! We are going to try and go next month and maybe stop into MK (we have those 4 day park hoppers) and get his hair cut then. He was bald when he was born so he really doesn't have to much hair, and what he does have is very curly...so before he starts looking like a little girl...
I will let you know if we end up getting it done. I think you really have to get in the park and make a bee line for the barbershop.
I will def do pics also!! They would be so cute in the baby book :)

I had my haircut there two years ago, but I didn't receive a certificate. I was however, caught in the middle of a squirt gun water fight between my barber and the shop owner next door, who just "happened" to wander in. I got soaked! The pictures came out great!

This is an abosulte must do. My son got his first haircut at Main Street. What a great experience. Be sure you can tape and/or take pictures of this event. They are experts with kids and do a very professional job with the cut as well. Nicholas got a Certificate, a lock of his hair in a small keepsake folder, a FREE Mickey Mouse Hat with "First Haircut" embroidered on the back. And mom secretly got Mickey Mouse Glitter sprinkled on her head. :laugh A country bear came in while he was getting his hair cut and goofed around just a bit, and the barbers have several Disney toys to keep the kids occupied. It is a truly magical experience and one well worth the wait. I tipped the Barber $10!!!!!! I have never, ever done something like that, but after all the extras I felt she truly deserved it. Hope your experience is just as great. Of Course it helped that my son did not cry and sat very still through it all.

Wish he still did that at the Barbers. :hmmm

My son had his hair cut there in May. He is 12 years old but he still loved it! They asked him what color gel he wanted, and they mixed colors to get the orange he asked for. Then the lady barber spiked his hair, gelled it, and even painted a mickey on the back of his head before she dusted him liberally with pixie dust! He got lots of attention everywhere we went that day, and he was so glad he decided to wait and do it. It was EE day at MK the day we went, and we were right at the barber shop when they opened. Our youngest son was also with us, and the barber offered to just gel and pixie dust him too, but he is a boy who always has to have a baseball cap on so he said no thanks. I thought it was very sweet of her to offer though, especially where there were so many people waiting in line.

My DH had his hair cut there in Jan. We entered MK just after opening and went straight there and had no wait. They even gave my DH a Mickey light up toy to play with and sprinkled him with pixie dust (glitter) at the end. He had that glitter in his hair all day! The barber was so much fun!

I had by hair cut there in December. Very short wait when I got there early in the a.m. upon entering Main Street, USA. The barber was great and I'm letting the locks (what ones I still have!) get shaggy just so I can do it again in about a month or so!
