Re: trip planning help, please

What I usually do is make a rough plan on what park we will be and go from there... I admit I make a lot of early breakfasts at resorts like Chef Mickey's, Cafe May's or Breakfast with Lilo & Stitch and then make a later dinner ressie. For us it gives us lots of flexible time in between to do what ever we want....My only tip is not to go overboard on ressies..Plan with some action in mind as I put it!! LOL..

Re: trip planning help, please

We are also going from Sept - Oct. I just planned two TS for earlier in the vaca (one Breakfast and one Dinner) and then for the October part we will use the to QS credits for Lunch and Dinner and eat breakfast in the room. Mind you we only have 2 Oct days to worry about

Re: trip planning help, please

I've yet to make my own ADR's, my turn comes in January '10.

BUT...I do know FIL plans the ADR's and then we kind of work around them. 1t day there is HS, we check in, head out to the Sci Fi Dinner Theatre for a nice sit down lunch and then hit the parks. He usually plans only 1 sit down and we wing it the rest of the time. We usually split up and each group has a cell phone, when it gets close to our time we call each other to find out who is close. The closest group checks in and we of course end up waiting for our turn.

How I'm planning is to take a lesson from FIL on the 1st day thing. Sci Fi Dinner Theatre and then from there 1 sit down a day, a CS will be at the hotel for dinner. I plan on slipping the kids some Toaster Strudels or something depending on our hotel. They are not big breakfast eaters unless it's like 10 am and forget that. My rear is going to ahve been on 2 or 3 rides by 10 am. lol

There isn't as much at HS as MK for us, as my kids are all under 9 yrs old. so missing the AM at HS isn't a biggie to us.

So far I plan on SciFiDT at HS, Crystal Palace at MK, and from there, I dunno. I do know we're skipping AK so far. Dh would rather hit MK 2 or 3 days lol.

Well, we went through Kingdom Kunsultants this time around, our agent Tammy will be making our reservations which will be a first for us! I've always made the ressies myself. I e-mailed her a list of places we would like and we'll see on June 28!!!

I'm embarrassed to say that I don't think I could give up that control. I have to call myself to make sure I get what I want.

I agree with Mickeybug, book the first few days and wing the rest. Harder to do without a hopper, but using a TS at lunch and CS at dinner may make that easier.

Re: trip planning help, please

Our trip is also during this time: Sept. 22-Oct. 4, also, but we are not letting it worry us.

All the best restaurants (IMHO) are at the resorts, anyways, so we book most of our TS meals at resorts: Boma, Ohana's, Narcoosee's, 1900 Park Fare, Turf Club, Chef Mickey's, etc. This frees up our days to go to any park we choose. We can change our minds and go wherever we want, then go to the resorts for dinner. We are only eating at the parks on two days: Tusker House for breakfast, and (hopefully) Le Cellier for lunch or dinner. Especially the monorail resorts for dinner are very convenient for dinners.

We are avoiding EMH this trip, except for the night at AK - this is rare for the fall and we are excited about that. The fireworks schedule looks light for that time; we are hoping they will fill in more as it gets closer.

See you there! ;)

Re: trip planning help, please

I am in the same boat, except most of my trip is in October! (30 Sept - 8 Oct). My ADR window opens on 2 July - and if last month was any indication, the hours will not be posted by then.

I really just want to know which nights Fantasmic will be on in that first week in October - 'cause that will decide when I go to HS.

Ah..to have such a dilema!!!

Re: trip planning help, please

You have been given a lot of advice and I think by now you already know what direction you are heading in, but here is my take!

I like to see where the EMH are and for the most part, avoid them!!!!!!!!! That park tends to be more crowded and I tend to not want to be there, there is one exception, Animal Kingdom! They're EMH provide a geat chance to eat at Yak and Yeti and see this park at night. I though it was incredible when we went in Decemeber. Not really even sure if it will be dark when you go though, so this may be a mute point.

As fro making ADR's, I can see why it is important for you. I like to always make my ADR's and then I plan my day around where our meals would be that night. We like our food and tend to make the park and food function as a whole. Really, there is no bad park in Disney, so go for what you feel is best! It will all work itself out in the wash.

Seeing the hours always helps me get my barings so I feel your pain with the whole not being posted yet, thing! Good luck, I hope all of this advice helps!

Re: trip planning help, please

I make up an itinerary, and then call Disney. They schedule the park hours around me. It is very convenient.
