Re: Cost of the Photopass CD

I've gotten them a couple of times, and frankly some of the photos are pretty lame snap shots. With digital there is no excuse for not taking a second to look at the shot for things like eyes open, smiles, etc.

I'm not expecting portrait sitting results but better than pictures DW takes. "Who the heck is that? Don't know...there's no head."

I don't know that they are better, when we get the PhotoPass we also take our own. We usually take 400-500 pics ourselves. The PhotoPass is nice for castle shots at night and photos in the waterparks. DW and I have a nice one of us at TL just as a wave is crashing into us. We never would have gotten that ourselves.

Re: Cost of the Photopass CD

We've done trips with and without photpass options and some of teh pictures have been terrific! I also like what you can do to the pictures after you get home! I am a scrapbooker and the options are fun! There really is no need to do photopass, but it's a great option if you want to take advantage! We ALWAYS take our own photos too, but this allows us all to be in pictures without bothering someone else to take the photo!

If you get a good discount code it is terrific! Anyone have a current one?

I have to agree with that. We've gotten our fair share of fuzzy out-of-focus, too dark, badly framed, too high ISO, etc. shots. Most of our Photopass pictures have been excellent but I've always been surprised at the amount of duds.

I'm sure they can get some decently set up pics IE: with you hugging with the castle behind, you but is it worth $99, $109, or $149?

I bought a new Canon Powershot and 2 16mb SD/HC memory cards and i plan to snap off fistfulls of pics and videos in September.

I know it's all about making $$ and Disney isn't immune from it, i just don't get the photopass option unless of course you are totally against taking your own photos.
We also take plenty of our own pics, but I like that the Photopass people can get pictures of the whole family. I guess it's possible to stop people passing by and ask them to take a quick picture for you, but I would never do that. If we don't use Photopass, I am never in any pictures because I am the one taking all of them. We just got back today, and we used Photopass a lot because we had a big group and they were able to get pictures of all of us at the parks. I'm anxious to upload our cards and see what we got! I pre-ordered and we are going to put all of the cards from our group on one account and split it between us, so this time the cost wont be bad at all.

Re: Cost of the Photopass CD

We are also going with another family and are considering splitting the cost as well, and including both family's personal photos on the CD....how does this work? Can you then reproduce the CD, since you bought it? That would make a big difference....and yeah, I get tired of coming home and only one or two pics with me and the DH in them....I'm thinking Photopass for this year, too.

Yes, you can copy the CD. This time I'll probably just copy all of them for everyone since we were together a lot. Last time we went we happened to be there at the same time as some of my sister's friends who I don't even know that well, and we chipped in together with them. I put their photopass cards on my account and got the CD, then I made them a copy with only the pictures of their family. It worked out great and we were able to split the cost. If you know anyone going at around the same time and can share the CD and the cost, then I think it's absolutely worth it to get the family pictures. Also, if you buy photos at character meals, you can have those added to your photopass account.

Re: Cost of the Photopass CD

I wasn't going to order the CD this trip, but I did. I figured if I didn't order the CD I'd be kicking myself in the butt once we got to WDW. If we don't use the photopass photographer's enough I'll just cancel and get the refund once I get home.

I found a link that has the pre-ordered CD for $99.95, here's the link - it still works:

Re: Cost of the Photopass CD

I haven't decided if I am going to buy the CD or not, but you can still have your picture taken by the Photopass photographer and usually have them take the picture with your camera too. Sometimes the one with your own camera is better. But of course, you don't have the neat photopass graphics, but everyone is in the picture and it is free.
