A disney club question!!!???

hello everybody,

I have recently been considering to join the disney club since me and my family go to disney probably twice a year, maybe more cause we live in south florida.........and i have a few questions. Lets start off by clearing this up for me: are the disney club and the disney vacation club the same thing??(sorry but some of these are probably gonna be really stupid and i have a TON of them to ask so you better get comfortable, lol) Would we actually save money from joining even if we only go twice a year?....Would any of you recommend it?...lets see...what else......O yeah, how much does it cost a year, and how do you pay it, like once a month or one time only?....umm......i think i read that u can by points but they are like really expensive, also i heard somewhere that u must by a certain amount of points?? what exactly are the discounts, and are they good???.......I just wanna know what its like before i pressure my mom into buying it, lol...... Does anybody know any good web sites covering this topic?? thanx for ay help!!
Joe:)

Joe, it sounds to me as though you are writing about two different topics: the Disney Club and the Disney Vacation (or time-sharing) Club.

The Disney Club is an annual membership that costs $39.95. Sometimes discounts are available: check mousesavers.com or, if you have an Entertainment Book you'll find a discount listed there.
I am sure that there is a link on this site explaining the Club in great detail. (You can search for it on then main page.)

The Disney timeshares do involve purchasing points. It is a much more expensive proposition! Again, you can find detailed info about this if you look on the "Disney Central Forum" page and, about half way down the page, you'll see the link for the Vacation Club (DVC Corner). Some of the DC members are also timeshare owners.

If you have specific questions after you review the info listed, let us know. I bet someone will be able to provide the answers.

The Disney Club is a membership club that you pay an annual fee, you get a card that gives you discounts on park passes, resort rooms, restaurants, etc. You also get a subscription to the Disney magazine. I think it is a steal if you go to Disney very often. I believe it is under $40 per year, but I save over $100 with it every Disney vacation.

The Disney Vacation Club is a timeshare type of "club". You purchase portions of one of the DVC resorts (Old Key West, etc...). You then have the right to use that resort for a certain number of days each year. If you go to Disney regularly, then it is a great way to stay on property and save money. I would say the average purchase is between $15,000 and $20,000, plus annual maintenance fees.

thanx both of you, i made my decision and decided to go with the disney club, we only go to disney twice a year for probably a weekend then a little longer trip during the summer, it would be perfect to get discounts on resorts and tickets, i also love the disney magazine and my subscription runs out this year i think, lol. And fir oaying 40 bucks and saving over about a 100 on a trip is great...... well thanx so much!
