Re: Fireworks Dessert Party at Magic Kingdom

I'm going to call tomorrow and see if I can book it for our trip! What the heck, what's $17.99 I can drop that in a HEART BEAT on snacks during the day, I'll just have to save up!

I think Wishy is going to do it too . . . so between us there will be lots of pics and comments I'm sure.

Wish me luck getting the adr Monday!

GOOD LUCK! I just might have to look into trying this when I am there in July. Maybe I'll have downtime at night!

The main blurb says through Aug 28th, so I'm sure it's a test. If it's a success, I'm sure it will continue!

Oh yeah, I didn't think of that. This is something I think my DD would like to try.

I can't until tomorrow! It says they will start taking ressies on the 22nd.

Wish had a good point, it's worth the price just for the reserved seating. I always make the girls line up early for Wishes (which is my fav) and this way we won't have to wait so long, and they can munch on yummy desserts, which will keep their mouth occupied and I won't hear "Is it time yet? Is it time yet""

Well said. I think this is why I don't like the "event", even though I like doing different things, and a fireworks dessert party with an exclusive view does appeal to me.

I called this morning, after waiting 35 minutes on hold at 7am, I booked the dessert party for next week.

Re: Fireworks Dessert Party at Magic Kingdom

I am confused here; why is it that so many people object to Disney implementing a paid fastpass system (for preferred fastpass while still leaving the old free system in place), but have no issue with paying for a preferred fireworks viewing spot?

I think they are along the same idea.

I am opposed to a paid FP system for the reason that it was a service that is intended to be free for resort guests and I enjoy that privelege gratis; it's not broken, don't fix it. It's THEIR way of timing crowd control anyway, why should I pay for that? Using a two-tiered FP system is gonna make the 'free' system slower & less desirable & it's also just tacky.

The dessert party is an EVENT, obviously I've never done this one before, but the one in Disneyland had a gorgeous dessert buffet with drink servers, etc. Where do you want them to put a fireworks dessert party, inside? Illuminations has had private dessert parties in closed off sections for years. How is this any different?

Heck, they even do it (or used to) for the evening light parade in California Adventure.

My sitting in an 'event area' to view the fireworks & enjoy desserts/drinks has little impact on the public who's NOT attending the event 'cause they can see the fireworks from any other spot on Main St., the hub, the train station, Fantasyland, etc. But when people paid to have a 'priority' FP they are directly slowing down my experience on the 'free' FP system. And I have to say of all the times I've watched Wishes I VERY RARELY see more than a handful of people at that Noodle Station, if ever. Actually I've seen it closed off for cleaning, etc. more than a few times during the fireworks. It's not like they're closing off a huge chunk of Main Street where 100's of people gather.

Re: Fireworks Dessert Party at Magic Kingdom

I think it's just another way for guests to pay extra for a deluxe version of Disney events.

The preferred fastpass idea would still leave the regular system free to guests. I do not see a difference here.

Have you done this? We haven't and have often wondered if it is worth it. I mean the main reason we did this for Fantasmic, and are doing it again on our next visit to DL, is for the exact reason you mentioned earlier. The area around the Rivers of America, at DL, get so crowded in the evening. People start getting there place, to sit on the ground or stand, over an hour before the show so, it's nice to have a pre reserved seat and some yummy refreshments! This makes the Fantasmic event worth every penny(and there are many pennies for this one).

On the subject at hand...I agree that the viewing area at the Noodle Station is quite good. I was lucky enough to discover that a few years back. I may be inclined to enjoy the dessert buffet and reserved seating, especially if my trip is during a busy time! For us, the dessert part is nice, but not having to arrive extra early to get a seat is what really appeals!
