Magic Kingdom Tour Questions

Has anyone done either the Keys to the Kingdom Tour, Magic Kingdom Family Tour, or the Behind the Seeds Tour. I thought I might book 2 of these for my DH and oldest DS. While I go do the kiddie stuff with our younger sons. Any feedback would be appreciated. Note: Oldest DS is 15 but will be 16 in Jan he's 6'2 almost 6"3 and definitely would pass for a 16 year old.

Just a FYI, I have heard that the tour guides have started asking for id proving age. Apparently, too many people were signing up kids under age 16.

Hey Paula, I took the Keys to the Kingdom Tour 2 monthes ago, in May with my mom. The Disney people over the phone made a big stink about how I must be 16 to take the tour and that I need to bring some form of Identifcation with me when we go to check in for the tour. However when we arrived we checked in, ordered our lunch and meet our tour guide without once being asked for my ID. I dont know if this was a fluke and they were really suppose to ask me, or if they just plain didn't care, lol. The tour was really fun, and I would deffinitely recommend it to anyone. People have said it "ruins the magic" but it really made me appreciate it a whole lot more. Here's a link to my review of the tour in the trip reports forum: KttK review It's the 2nd post from the top. If you have anymore questions about the Keys tour Ill be happy to try and answer them!
Joe:)

My wife and took the keys to the kingdom Tour in April. It was great. I highly recommend it and I did not think that it ruined the magic in anyway.

I did hear something about needing to be 16 or older to go on the tour.

jmouse you are so knowledgeable when it comes to Disney you should write a book. I can always count on you to give a good response or even a link. We are booking the Behind the Seeds Tour (actually it booked the day of) The Keys to the Kingdom they are quite firm on that age 16 rule so that one is out for now.

We decided to do the Fireworks Cruise (our planner said she do her best to get it for us) the Ice Cream Social, Paulie Birthday Bash at Cape May Cafe, my fav Ohana's for our anniversary dinner and Liberty Tree Tavern and the Kona Cafe for Tonga Toast. Can you tell I have Poly withdrawl. We always stay at the Poly but I wanted to try something new. I guess I'll be on edge till I'm at the BC and loving it. Guess I have Poly in my blood. The rest I will leave to chance.

My DM and I have done Keys to the Kingndom and our whole family did the Family Magic Tour. Your younger sons will LOVE family magic. The storys change from tour to tour, but they go along the lines of a villain is mad and wants to tear down Cinderella's Castle/Destroy Magic Kingdom/ reak havoc in some way. An example is when we did the tour, Peter Pan stole Captain Hook's golden dress hook and Captain Hook wanted to gather a crew at Pirates of the Caribbean and tear apart Magic Kingdom to find it. Luckly, Peter Pan left the tour a clue map to help find the hook. The tour follows the clues which takes you to a bunch of points in the Magic Kingdom and you do little games or tasks in each spot. We had to act like a crocodile and yell "Tick Tock" as loud as we could to go through Adventureland. Ya know, to scare Captain Hook... ;) The end usually a charactor greet, but that's not an absoulte given. Sometimes it doesn't happen, but I've heard that usually it does.

Keys to the Kingdom is very informitive and interesting if you really wanna know how the Magic Kingdom works. The tour talks about the different construction aspects (forced perspective) and talks about how Disney uses everything to totally pull you into the lands, from music and sounds to smells and even the color of the ground. You get a brief history lesson on the creation of Disney World and the guide points out and tells the meaning of some of the in-jokes in the lands and the "credits" that are the upper windows of Main Street. The tour also goes backstage to the float bay that holds Spectromagic, Make a Dream Come True, some miscellaneous floats from past parades (We saw two from the 25th anniversary parade), and the Electric Water Pagent. Right next door is the back side of Splash Mountain. We also went backstage through a back door in a Main Street gift shop and walked about 10 paces and were in the maintanance dock to the Jungle Cruise. Things are much closer backstage...:laugh There is also the trip through the utilidors and lots of other information. Lunch is provided for Keys to the Kingdom as is a ride through a couple attractions, ours were Haunted Mansion (which I was very pleased about) and the Jungle Cruise. Both we did by the tour guide leading us through the exit, which was fun in itself!

The pumpkin King should have mentioned he was just 16 on the tour and he was carded. He is also 6 ft tall and looks older but they asked for a picture id. He was also the only teen on the tour so that may have been why they checked his id.

If the 15 yo is a big disney fan the Family Magic tour is fun.

Another option that he might really enjoy is Wild By Design at AK. You only need to be 14 for that one and I think it was my favorite tour.
