Doing WDW in a group

I posted this question in another thread...but thought I'd start a new one.

There are 10 of us going together in Oct. - 2 grandparents, 5 "30-somethings" and 3 kids (ages 3, 3.5, and 5). We are all staying at CSR.

Any tips for doing WDW in a group? I know we have to be flexible with the kids...but any tips you experts have will really help!

Also, will PS's be a problem with 10 people???

THANKS!!!

This past March there were 6 of us and this coming March their will 8. If you all want to stay together thru out the day I suggest getting each person's must dos! Maybe get them to list 2-3 attractions each they just DON"T want to miss. This will give you a good starting place. PS's are not difficult to make for a large group. I have been reassured by many here of that. Disney knows people are traveling in larger groups to the world these days and they have of course risen to the challenge.

The best thing about staying on property at WDW is if one or two get tired in the group they can hop a bus back while the rest of you stay in the World.

Have walkie-talkies and accept the fact that the group will eventually split up at some point :laugh

Been there, done that; We went with a group of 11 several years ago. They were all family members, but you know how family goes. ;) Mother had expected everyone to stay together the entire day. With that number of people, it is impossible to entertain all members with all of the same things. Some people aren't interested in the Hall of Presidents and some people don't want to ride Space Mountain.

In another thread, I discussed the walkie talkies we bought. We never had one break in on our channel the entire 2 days we were there. However, goofygal1975 bought the same ones and had several people on the same channel. (I think she would tell you that she loves them anyway.) If you are interested in them, type in walkie talkies to the search feature.

Thanks Willbegone and DisneyAnne! This site is the best! I'm quickly becoming addicted!

We will definitly look into the walkie talkies. I've already warned everyone that we DON'T have to be together the whole time! I'm travelling w/all my in-laws (yikes!) but as we are bringing along built-in babysitters I can't complain! ;)

Thanks for the tips!! Anyone else??:)

We will have a family group of 36 going to WDW and then on a Disney Cruise next Spring, and have done similar things before, at WDW and other locations. Most of us will have the walkie-talkies, which help, or cell phones, if we need to get a hold of them, but we usually plan out our own days separate of what everyone else is doing.

I would suggest planning a couple of meals, either dinners or breakfasts, where you would all meet together and eat. Buffets are good, since they will please everyone, and are usually pretty open to moving tables around for seating. While we may see some of our group during the day, and another family may tag along with us, it is just easier to do things in small groups.

I can't second what Mickey says enough. Every time we've tried touring in a larger group, it's been difficult. Everyone has their own set of priorities, wants, and needs. Getting PS's for ten won't be a problem overall, but you will repeatedly hear the schpiel that "we can't promise to seat you all together." When you get to the restaurant, they will do their best to NOT split you up. They're just covering themselves.

Wow Mickey! 36??? Now I feel like a whiner...

Thanks for the input (and good wishes) MickeyMac and CaribBeachNut.

Glad to know about the PS's, and have to say I won't be heartbroken if they have to split us up once in a while! :D
The buffetts are a great idea...Thanks!

I'll take all the good advice to heart. :)

I know what you mean. My outlaws almost look human. So that makes it bearable and not too embarassing.

CaribBeachNut ohh you said .. that is what is really gonna be needed for a large group. Its difficult enough with just a family of four or five !!!
I was thinking of the grandparents though and thats why I thought I would post .. will you need to worry about them getting around the parks, or need to take in consideration any special needs they may have?

MIL and FIL just couldn't pass up witnessing the grandkids first time in WDW...of course it mushroomed from there! :dazed :dazed

Our only concern is my MIL, who gets around pretty good, but won't be able to do TONS of walking. We keep going back and forth about getting one of those electric carts...but plan on taking lots of rest breaks for her and the little ones.

Any thoughts??

Thanks so much!

thats great that you plan on taking the breaks :) and being a grandparent (who takes her grandchildren every year) I know how special it is be a part of WDW with them.

You're the best Tink! Thanks for all the great info...I'll pass it along to the in-laws. I also think staying on site will save us many headaches.

We all know that this trip is for the kids - so we know we won't see everything. But I wouldn't want it any other way!! I just can't wait to see their faces!

DC has been a blessing! And the Outlaws (CaribBeachNut this is for you) don't know about this site - so they will all think I'm BRILLIANT!:laugh
