blizzard beach in may

Hello everybody, me again with another question! lol. I just found out yesterday that My church youth group is going to blizzard beach in the middle of may, and my mom will be chaperoning (sp?) I have been to every disney world theme and water park except blizzard beach, so this is my first time! I was suppose to go last summer but my little brother (the spoiled one) decided he didnt wanna go so we spent the day in downtown disney......DONT GET ME STARTED! lol. We will be staying at the all star sports, and heres the cool part, I get a room all by myself!!!! When I signed up to go on this trip all the rooms they booked were full of other kids, so they booked a whole other room just for me! anyways this isnt the point...lol, I get distracted easily........ My real question is what is blizzard beach like? I've heard nothing but rave reviews from friends. Anyone absolutly recomend any water rides i gotta try? I can brave the hulk and mantu and all that but i DONT think I got enough guts to go on summit plummet!!!! but we'll see. So i basically just want some info on the park, thanx for any help u can give!
Joe:)

Blizzard Beach is the best water park I've been to. it has several of the raft-type rides (A couple that go through tubes...one that was a 4-person ride that goes down a toboggan-like trail. Summit Plummet is a supreme rush, but it is pretty scary. I went down once and just envisioned my hand or foot whacking something, or sliding right off the tube, but it was a blast and was well worth it. If I remember, they have a couple of Summit Plummet-type rides that aren't quite as high that you could experiment with. I can't remember if they have a wave-pool...I was thinking they did, but I'm not positive...I can tell you next week when I'm there though!

The Gilman Tips...

Here are some tips from your friendly neighborhood Gilman (that's me! :D )

Teamboat Springs- it's the big "family" raft ride. If you can ride it with a total of 3 people. Put the smalles person on one side and when you start the slide have the two larger people slide right next to each other directly across from the smaller person. In my circle of friends this is known as Launching Emili (Emili is the plural of Emily, and we know lots of Emili, most of which we've done this to!)

Summet Plummet- One of the most awesome experiences that you can find. I'm a HUGE coaster fanatic, but every time I plop my butt down on this slide I almost wet myself. It's really unnerving looking down and seeing no slide there (I promise you it's there! You just can't see it... sorta curves under itself almost). But just rest assured nobody has ever been injured on it, it's perfectly safe. Sure you accelerate to 55mph in about 3 seconds, but what's the big deal? There's pleanty of almost staionary water at the bottom to... uh... "cushion" you to a stop!

Seriously, summet plummet is awesome. Don't miss it. You'll be sorry if you do.

Those are two of the "must dos" at BB, in my opinion! :)

Thanx guys for the help! I'll be considering it. I'm also reseraching the park and rides online. Another question that just hit me was what will the crowd be like? Im going may 18 to blizzard beach, are the water parks packed then? I know its a week before memorial weekend so i dont know if there will be people already coming to the parks, or if it will be considered "value season", like it always is right before a major holiday! I just wanted to know what to expect either long lines or short lines, and that will tell me how much sunscreen to bring! lol. thanx for any help!

My family and I were their May of last year and the crowds were not that bad, we spent a full day at Blizzard Beach and had a great time. We did load up on the sunscreen, very sunny day and very hot. I did make the mistake of not bring aqua shoes, and the hot concrete had no mercy on my bare feet. If you like water parks, this is the place for you.
Have fun.
:)
