Disney in Sept.

If you are going to Disney in Sept. I just want to let you know the hours are cut back and they take out some parades and fireworks. They do this every year it is nothing new. I just wanted those who have never been in Sept. to know. If you want to see the Spectro magic parade it is only happening on Sept. 13, 20, 27. Fireworks in the sky is on Sept. 3, 4, 8, 10, 13, 15, 20, 22, 27, 29.

That's a shame, but I bet that they will add some days for everything at the last minute.

We went last Sept. and can verify that the hours and parade/fireworks are decreased. However, prepare yourselves for a real treat... extremely short wait times!! That more than makes up for it! Also, one night we were given a notice from the resort that MK was changing hours... staying open 1 hour later on 2 nights and it wasn't published in the park hours flyer we got in the park. And, on one of those nights we noticed they did 2 shows of Spectromagic instead of one.

Yup, we were there last Sep as well for 2 weeks, and did not have to queue once for any ride for more than 5 mins...the vast majority were walkons. We noticed a couple of times as well that CMs were actually 'touting' for business towards the end of the day, trying to attract people onto the ride...

A couple of times as well my wife and I stayed on Kali River Rapids for many times in succession, the CMs were letting anyone that wanted to stay seated and go round again (needless to say, we were kinda drenched by the end )

Weather was okay too, had the occasional evening storms (incl a great evening in the California Grill when 3 electrical storms converged on us...for once Disney was forced to take a humble second place for that show!) Nothing as bad as our near miss with Floyd in Sep '99 though....

September highly recommended as a great time of year to go...

I also have to vouch like crazy for September!!!! But then again, I don't want to promote it TOO much, cuz the crowd sizes might grow. Hehe. :laugh

But honestly, despite the shortened hours and decreased amount of evening entertainment, the "virtually-no-wait-for-any-rides" TOTALLY makes up for it!!!
We will never go at a different time of year--we are sold on September!
My best friend still talks about it...last year on our Sept. WDW trip, we never waited for ANYTHING. The only thing we actually stood in line ONCE for was Rock n' Roller Coaster, and it was about 5 minutes. The rest of the trip, we walked on everything. I mean everything. How else do you think we managed to ride the Tower of Terror 24 times?????? :D :D :D

We loved the short lines in November (full week before Thanksgiving) so much that we decided to stick with the value season!! So here we go for September to see how they compare.

:D

Yep, we rode the ToT 24 times! :D ::grins like crazy from ear to ear:: We're planning on going 33 times on this trip! Don't know where the number 33 came from, but it sounded good. I guess that will bring our total up to 57! (Well actually, mine will be 62...I've been on it 5 times more than my best friend.)

I love the ToT so much, I dream about it!!!!

Haha. Sorry, I know I must seem weird...oh well!

You guys have just made my day. I have been shut in the house all day waiting for Isabel to move along and the thought of having walk-on rides next week when we are in disney has pushed her out of my mind.

DW in September was awesome. It is the cruise that I won't do again in August, during hurricane season. Hurricane season peaks between August and mid-September. Officially, the season runs from July 1st through November 30th. Anyways, we were out in the ocean making our escape from Hurricane Andrew, a category 4. My husband and I were taking a stroll on one of the decks outside and we were standing at the front of the ship looking out. We were able to see the captain a few decks above looking out from where they were controlling the ship. I was making comments to my husband about the waves, how big they were. This was my first cruise so I had no idea that this was not the norm. All of a sudden, the wind really picked up and Jim had to actually put his arm around me as he held onto the safety rail that goes around the ship. I could not stand up and the wind literally took everything that was in my hand, with it. Our clothes were flapping so hard against our skin, it hurt. We were having a difficult time breathing as we literally inched our way to get inside the ship. If announcements had been made to stay inside, we did not hear them due to the wind storm that we were already in.
Once we got back inside the ship we went back to our room to check things out from our veranda. The wind wasn't as bad as were were sheltered but the waves, they were huge. Anyway, the captain made an announcement that we would be arriving in Nassau earlier than planned due to a medical emergency. It wasn't until we were at my dad's home after the cruise that we realized that there hadn't been a medical emergency. We were trying to get to safety from Hurricane Andrew. So, having experienced being in the path of a hurricane once I will never do it again.
