vandalism at the MK

I read a tip somewhere on another site about taking chalk along on your trip and using it to decorate your brick in the Walk Around the World.

Has anybody seen this done?

If I had my sons decorate their bricks would it be considered vandalism?

Not sure I want them to color their bricks, it might ruin the look, but I just thought I would explore this idea.

Thanks!

So you have a brick already? Do you at least know where it is?

Check your agreement, but IMHO, this sure sounds like 'vandalism' to me. I could be wrong, but regardless of whether you bought the brick, the overal property still belongs to Disney, so I don't think they'd be too happy with people writing all over their sidewalks.
Besides, they'd probably wash it away at the next cleaning (since it's chalk).

Vandalism or not I personally think it would distract from the beauty of the bricks. Another idea would be to take a photo of your son standing/sitting beside it and let him decorate a scrapbook page or a page for framing.

The bricks are all the ones that you see all over as you walk towards the entrance of the Magic Kingdom and then there are the other ones that are along the walk way from like the Poly to the WP.
I dont know if you can still get them anymore. I remember I think it was like back in 97 while I was there when I first heard about purchasing one. I never got one and I wish that I had. I would love to get one now if anyone knows if you still can?
I really would love to get one along the walkway by the WP.

Wed, I think Mr. DC might object to that last statement...

Instead of chaulk, how about the Mickey confetti - sprinkle it around your brick for the picture? I've never left the Magic Kingdom without seeing it sprinkled all over the ground out there. Plus, I'm such a scrapbooking idiot I'd take fifteen minutes out of my day to pick it back up... :dazed

Also, as the bricks are no longer available, consider doing the "Leave a Legacy" tiles in Epcot. I've scoffed at it for over a year now, but my Dad wanted to do it and it's only $25 now, add a 10% AP discount and it was great. I can't wait - now my kids kids will be able to see my Dad at Disney.

OK... need a hankie.

My three sons each have a brick at WDW. My oldest brother purchased one for each of them when they were born. We have never seen them, only pictures.

I have the certificates with their identification numbers on them. One is by the wedding pavillion, one is at the TTC and one is near where the ferry boat unloads near the MK. I wrote to Disney and they sent maps with the general locations highlighted. My youngest can recognize his name so with all 5 of us searching, hopefully it won't take long to find them all.

I am disappointed that they do not sell them anymore as I would love to add a brick in memory of my dear aunt. But I plan on doing the leave a legacy tile, with the three boys' image on it!!

I really didn't like the idea of drawing on the brick, but if everybody else was doing it - I didn't want my kids to be left out. I plan to take lots of pictures of each boy with their "brick", their own little piece of Disney.

As long as you call it little, I don't mind.

We never did the bricks at the MK, but we did do the "Leave a Legacy" at EPCOT. Infact, every time we go back DH takes a picture of the tiles . This way he can look at it every now and then wishing we were back there!!! In Nov., again, I'm sure he will take another picture . Crazy, hugh!!??? Just love Disney World!!!!!!!!!:heart JOANN:)

I didnt think that you could get the bricks anymore but hey ya never know.
We were thinking about the leave a legacy at Epcot the only thing is that when we were there we were talking with someone and he said that the tiles might not always be there. (I don't know if this is true or not)
So we didnt want to do it.
I wish that they would start the bricks over again. Im sure that they could find room for them somewhere.
:)

I think Bob Sehlinger summed it up right when he referred to the bricks as "The P.T. Barnum Memorial Walkway". The last time I went to the MK,I noticed that many of the bricks were very worn down. At least the Epcot Leave a Legacy tiles aren't walked on.
